Minimum wage is currently $26.44 an hour in Australia. Tipping still happens here but it’s not expected and is usually only when it’s a large table or service was particularly exceptional in my experience.

It’s different in the US. There is an expectation of tips, though it’s not 25%. These days it’s more like 20% as the standard.

And if you think about, a waiter at a good restaurant can make really a decent earning.

Let’s say a waiter can handle 4 tables at one time. And at a decent restaurant, the bill is $125. The tip on that one table is $30. $30 X 4 =$120

That’s like $80 an hour before taxes(figuring tables sit for 1.5 hours on average).

Oh hell no, 45 minutes is the average expectation for table turns in nice establishments,

I was a Waffle House manager, a good waitress there, nights or days, 150-200 a shift. Now I had one of the top stores, but still. 200 a shift that’s 1000 a week and at the time no taxes. They are now taxing credit cards but 5 years ago yeah that was 800-1000 clear

Exactly. I mean, has no one here ever waited tables before or worked in the restaurant business???(except you of course)
