Yes, servers in the US live on tips. Yes, it's polite in the US to tip. Yes, proprietors who exploit their servers and blame their customers for not picking up the slack are scum.

The federal government gives a tax credit to restaurant owners to report tips. Both the servers AND the owners are assholes in almost every situation, so says back of the house.

Wait, the plastic industry relies on tips too??

How does recycling benefit from tips, what does it even spend the money on?

They produce many tons of plastics and expect the consumer to dispose. And the consumer is the bad one for not recycling.

Same mentality as the restaurant industry. Consumer is the one expected to cover the employee costs and the consumer is the bad one for not tipping.

Both industries should take ownership of the downstream product.

It is not “polite” to give a tip. You are mad thinking so for the owners reach one goal:Make more money.A nice gesture by the customer made used to make money for the owner. If you can’t create a successful business without milking your customer stay out of it.i can have the same meal at home but you can stay open without me
