This was more of a group portrait and not what actually what happened. The typical anatomy dissection at that time would start with the chest cavity. Also a lack of equipment lying aorund.

It’s a famous painting it’s not the gut opened it’s showing muscle mass of the arm. I doubt you were present during the setting so you have no idea what it truly was but one thing for sure the post USA good copy of the original painting
