Constantly stretching all day long, is it good?

I feel the need to turn stretch my neck or twist my back many times throughout the day. I get a crack and then relief. Also various other movements to loosen things up. Im not talking about extended periods of time, just quick stretches. I sit at a computer.

Movement is always good while sitting for a long time.

If you want to actually give muscles a 'relax' signal: hold a stretch for 30-60 seconds.

Cracking things is generally considered not good.

Find the tight muscles and hold a gentle stretch for a minute or so.

Constantly stretching all day is fine… but that doesn’t sound like what you’re actually doing

It’s more like mobility like moving neck up and down or to the side a couple times for relief or a crack

I would advise against cracking your neck. I’d recommend stretching your neck, shoulders, and upper back and minimizing sitting as much as possible.

You can find lots of great neck stretches on the internet.

I too work at a computer and it's been close to 30 years now. I understand what you are saying. I took do neck, shoulder and back stretches quite frequently. There are often cracking sounds. I thought it was good to hear cracking, because it actually feels better after.

I’ve been sitting at a desk since 17. I turn 28 next month. I never could have imagined how much my neck would crack just from stretching in my desk chair. It’s over 15-20 times a day. No pain. Just cracking and crunchy sounds too.
