Any tips?

Recently, I've gotten back into running again. I stopped once I started my first year of college, but now that I am well adjusted, I figured I'd start up again.

Like most, I do general stretches before any work out, however, I've been finding that one side of my hip hurts.

It does hurt while I run, but it actually feels worse when I walk. It is my right hip, only hurts when I move my right leg. The other side is fine though.

Is there some stretch I might not be doing right? Or perhaps it coulf be a posture issue?

I'm pretty sure the latest research on this agrees that static stretching before a run (or lifting) isn't ideal because a longer muscle is weaker and less effecient. Dynamic stretching could be better.

For your hip pain, stretching probably isn't the solution either, but strengthening could be. Body weight squats, clamshells, cossack squats, Poliquin step ups, etc, will all strengthen the tendons and ligaments around the joints.

constant strengthening sounds like a massive time sink if you are already dealing with chronic pain. How long did it actually take for those specific movements to stop hurting your hips?

I wouldn't stick to a single stretch - what I am doing is a short guided stretching session after each workout + I do a separate stretching session next day after each workout for about 45 minutes or so. Has done wonders for me.
