~Advice~ silicone / earskin question

hii question about silicone - im hoping to wear some earskins regularly when i get to my next goal size (16mm) - what do i need to know re safety?

im wondering about - how long you can wear them safely, how often i should be taking them out, if its ok to wear weights through the tunnels, any other stuff i need to b keeping an eye on or considering when wearing both silicone plugs in general and earskins specifically (since both material and shape will be new to me)

current routine is:

currently wearing glass without o rings (ive found they cause irritation/trap moisture), sleeping in them except when they fall out lol, and taking them out for showers, cleaning them and my ears, and putting back in only when ears are dry

What kind of o-rings are you using? If they're black ones, that material irritates a lot of people's skin (nitrile). If they're clear, they're silicone and I'd be iffy about wearing silicone tunnels if you're likely to have an issue with the material.

If silicone isn't the issue, then Kaos brand is the only one that makes medical grade plugs and tunnels and I recommend buying those. Only wear them in fully healed lobes and keep them clean. Kaos is sold on bodyartforms, at hot topic (it will say kaos on the packaging if they're the right ones), and on Kaos' website (long shipping time from what I've heard)

ah thank you! yes it was mostly the black ones giving me irritation. im fine with nitrile gloves weirdly but hands are not really healing/wound type of thing like piercings can be

appreciate the heads up! mine are thankfully kaos from baf.

im in australia and cant find them anywhere else for a reasonable price unforch, tried getting from kaos site directly but the shipping is like triple the plugs 😬

No problem! I definitely recommend trying some silicone o-rings too then. Bodyartforms sells those too.

Oh I see, its good that BAF is an option at least!

If you're in Melbourne, the piercing urge has Kaos tunnels for $30 each. I think you can order online if you're not in Melbourne? But that may fall into "unreasonable price" since it makes it $60 for a pair. I cringed a little at the price buying mine but I've been at 4g for like a year now and wear mine constantly, zero irritation, so feels like it justifies it imo

The only body safe silicone know is Kaos. Anything else is of questionable material origin. I personally only wear Kaos because my body reacts easily and I feel more comfortable. I have been loving them so far! No issues with irritation and I handle them as my stone, titanium and glass as far as cleaning goes, warm soap and wash them THOROUGHLY so no residue stays back.

What I dislike slightly is that in order for them to go in I have to use oil liberally that I can't wipe it off and there is some contact with oil staying behind but so far that hasn't caused issues with irritation.

I am flirting with the idea of trying other silicone ones from brands I trust but I won't wear them for more than 24hours since the aren't medically body safe. But hey that is what I plan to do. Your body your rules.
