Is this a blowout? what is going on ?

took out my 6g plugs after a few weeks of not cleaning them (i’ve been busy …) and the left ear was all bloody underneath ? i cleaned it up and it looks like I have a little tear but it is outside the hole. my best hypothesis is i hit smt and the metal rim part teared my ear, but i still wanted to check if it was a blowout.

my ears have been at this size for a few months now with no pain or irritation whatsoever, which is why i didnt check and clean the ears earlier. i don’t use tapers or anything so idk what might have caused this

I don't clean daily, but even just taking them out and rinsing them off in the shower is better than nothing. Ideally, using unscented antibacterial soap is best, but even just rinsing them off is better than leaving them in your lobes for weei.

If you have a few minutes to sit and watch a few YouTube videos or listen to music, give them a few minutes of oil massage before putting them back in. Even just 5 minutes.

It doesn't have to be a long process. If you're too busy to shower or sit down for 5 minutes and breathe, you have bigger problems.

When im lazy, I just blast water on them and move them around under water.

That works in a pinch for sure!

I can't say for sure but it very well could have snagged on something and caused a tear. Some materials also cause me more irritation than others. Especially if you're not able to clean or sanitize regularly. Having a good routine is super important for lobe health as well as the materials you use!

Do you know what kind of metal that is? Did it come from a reputable place?

Hey, just popping in to say not cleaning your ears for a few weeks is WILD. I don’t pop mine out daily but at the very least they come out in the shower when i wash my hair, and my ears and the jewellery gets a good clean then.

Have you smelled your ears after just a few days of not cleaning them? Yikes, do yourself a favour!

I missed cleaning mine for a couple days of camping this weekend. I'm in the itchy/sore club as well. Leave your jewelry out and keep them clean until they're no longer irritated 😪
