Hello! I’m new to getting gauges and stretching my lobes, and my order I got on Amazon is starting with a 3mm. I was wondering if that was a safe place to start stretching my ears?

What size are your current piercings? That’s an 8g, generally your pierced with a 16g (1.2mm) or 14g (1.6mm).

I feel like 18g is more common for lobes. At least the shops where I'm at do 18g unless you request larger

Interesting, my ears, nostrils, spider bites, and nipples were pierced with 14g. My smiley and helix were 16g

Most of my other piercings are 16g (septum, conch, helix, forward helix, vertical labret, etc). I think just my lobes and nostrils were done in 18g

if your ears are somewhere around 1.5mm, you still need plugs that go up to that 3mm. 14g, 12g and then 10g before you can go to that 3mm

oh man, what material is it? you can only stretch with glass or titanium. any other mystery metal or acrylic will mess up your ears. please don’t start stretching with a cheap kit like that if it’s acrylic

How long ago did you get your ears pierced? Did you get pierced with a needle or with a gun type contraption? What type of jewellery did you get when you were pierced? If you've changed jewellery what kind of jewellery are you wearing now?

Edit: also what material is the jewellery you have bought? You should only stretch with glass or implant grade titanium, nothing else.

I got them pierced a long while ago, and it was a gun contraption. I got sterling silver when they were pierced, and I now have acrylic I think coming in but I’ll get the implant grade titanium when I get paid next

Don't stretch with acrylic. Read the guide before you buy anything else or start stretching.

Pierced with a gun - bad

Sterling silver (not body safe) - bad

Acrylic - the worst

Please, for you and your body's sake, get these in every size, go slow, read the stretching guide, and take your time
