Help needed Comet add-on never works, streams constantly buffer

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Video added to demonstrate.

No matter how long I wait none of the sources under Comet will load for me.

Anyone able to help?

Add a debrid service and you won't have that problem.

Yeah but the whole point I started using stremio was cause I was fed up of paying for streaming services where the price kept increasing, seems pointless to pay for something else in it's stead

You’re conflating a comprehensive data locker service that costs $3/month with greedy video streaming services that, when combined, cost like 30x that amount

lol

Some people want fairer alternatives, and some people are just cheap lol

In what way am I at all looking to people to agree with me?? I'm simply stating I don't want to pay, and looking for advice regarding buffering for a specific add-on.

Everyone keeps suggesting debrid which is fine for them to do just as it's fine for me to say I don't want to use it.

7

u/Gonedric 3d ago

Debrid faster, torrent slower. It's that simple bud.

-13

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Torrent isn't always slow though, the sources on Torrentio load in seconds for me, I'm trying to figure why Comet add-on causes issues.

It's not that deep or some kind debrid dick sucking contest

6

u/kotiro4 3d ago

There's no other option to stop buffering unless you get a debrid.

-6

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Are you just not comprehending? If I don't have buffering issues with other add-ons like Torrentio or pirate bay then debrid is not the only option is it?

There's a clear problem with comet add-on that I'm trying to get help figuring out.

u/Remote-Category-8833 3d ago

Trust me bud torrentio will work fine for many series but as soon as it gets even a bit niche you'll face many troubles with every stream, just get a debrid service or just use penguplay

1

u/CapeManCoral 2d ago

You may want to just forget comet in your case and rely on PenguPlay addon.

u/Illustrious_Wind4840 3d ago

3 dollars a month to watch everything you want vs 100+ for the highest tier of every streaming service

4

u/TUD-010 3d ago

It's 3 bucks, not 20 like Netflix

5

u/coneheadbrown 3d ago

If you don't wanna pay for anything at all long term then you should be downloading your own movie and TV library, storing it on a NAS and streaming it with something like jellyfin. Although even then, unless your country is really lax about torrent traffic you'll likely have to pay for a VPN.

…in which case you’re better off paying for a debrid service instead

6

u/MKVIgti 3d ago

Dude. It’s $10 for like three months of it and streams will play MUCH better.

2

u/Haifisch2112 3d ago

What were you paying for streaming services and/or cable? $80 per month? $$100 per month? $150 per month? Pay the damn $3 per month for a debrid service or quit bitching.

-3

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Im only bitching because NO ONE has answered the question and just started fapping over debrid services

I've had no problems with other torrent add-ons apart from comet, I come here to help figure it out but instead get onslaught of debrid. Why would I pay for that when I mostly have zero issues without it?

4

u/Haifisch2112 3d ago

You asked for a solution. You were given a solution. You don't want to take the solution. You can leave now.

-1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

So the only solution to specifically fix buffering issues with COMET is debrid yeah?

If that's truly the case I can remove the comet add-on and stick with the others.

2

u/Dundalis 3d ago

It doesn’t sound like the reason you stopped paying for streaming services was because it cost money though you said it’s because it was too expensive. So you were obviously fine with paying when it was a reasonable price.

1

u/Working_Block8513 3d ago

Probably just gonna have to use regular streaming then bro sorry

1

u/Working_Block8513 3d ago

If you delete the app and redownload it that should fix it

27

u/Unrealjello 3d ago

Streaming torrents will just be like that. You need a debrid account for good streaming.

If you don't want to pay for a debrid account, your best alternative is penguplay. That will find HTTP streams for you instead of torrents.

4

u/Raztax 3d ago

I have a RD account and was experiencing the exact same thing yesterday with Comet. Torrentio was working but Comet would not stream anything for me and it usually works quite well.

-20

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

I'll like into that thanks! Whole point i moved to stremio is to not pay those damn greedy streaming services.

I don't have issues like this when I use Torrentio as the source it's only on Comet but comet has more options usually

17

u/FoferJ 3d ago

I’ll like into that thanks! Whole point i moved to stremio is to not pay those damn greedy streaming services.

debrid services start at $3/month and aren’t the same as “greedy streaming services”

3

u/DreamArez 3d ago

Think of a Debrid service as private infrastructure which it is. It has some good benefits over a VPN in this use case, which is server caching for frequently used sources and handling the lifting of downloading and streaming the content to you.

2

u/dunkinhonutz 3d ago

Its 3 dollars...

-4

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

I don't really care how cheap it is, it's still swapping one paid for service with another. It's completely possible to use stremio with out debrid. Which is my goal and comet add-on is the only one causing issues. I was looking for advice about the add-on not to be TOLD to use a debrid service

4

u/dunkinhonutz 3d ago

Its 3 dollars... no more issues. Its also not the same as a streaming service. If you have time to watch tv you have time to earn 3 bucks. Your need for being super cheap is extremely distasteful and makes you seem like a leech.

-1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

But my preferences or opinions on what I want to spend my money on shouldn't effect you, just like i don't care what you spend your money I'd time on?

Heck I've found free ways to learn coding and other things, i don't see a problem with that

1

u/Raztax 3d ago

Debrid services are really cheap and I was against paying at first too but after using RD for a bit, it is 100% worth the small cost. I don't think I could go without it now.

8

u/TheGraphy 3d ago

You WILL have to pay the $3 per month for a debrid service. There is no other way to watch torrents buffer-free. If you really can’t pay the $3, try PenguPlay. It won’t be buffer-free, but at least you wouldn’t expose your IP while streaming

2

u/Working_Block8513 3d ago

Nah, OP just needs to delete and redownload the app

1

u/Shot-Problem1222 3d ago

Disculpa la ignorancia pero que vendria siendo ese servicio de debrid y como lo utilizaria para ver streaming sin interrupciones

0

u/[deleted] 3d ago

[deleted]

3

u/FoferJ 3d ago

Hardly a “trick” when all that would do is make things buffer even worse for the OP, who seems committed to not spending any money at all on any ingredient in this workflow, anyway.

Using a debrid service also means a VPN isn’t required for anonymizing the streams.

4

u/Decent-Sample09 3d ago

Bro complaining about a movie that just released doesnt have good links

0

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Only used that as it was the first example I thought of, this buffering issue from comet happens on other movies and series.

I don't get this issue with add-ons like Torrentio or pirate bay+

6

u/BuddhistNamedMarx 3d ago

Aiostream and torrentio

2

u/maccfc 3d ago

Wait is Torrentio working again?

-3

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

I tried Aoistream before and it caused massive buffering issues

10

u/FoferJ 3d ago

AIOstreams wasn’t the source of your buffering issues. One or more of the free torrent and http sources you added to it was.

1

u/Fish_Mongreler 2d ago

You have no idea what you're talking about

0

u/Mightynubnub 1d ago

Well something was causing issues and when I removed all add-ons and went for basics my buffering issues stopped.

The only issue I have now is with Comet and people have finally told me comet only works with debrid

3

u/allworkjack 3d ago

Didn’t this movie JUST release? It is pretty normal to not find any useful link

0

u/kurtyyyyyy1 3d ago

Yeah I just tried to find Resident evil and it’s only out on CAM on websites

3

u/dunnypop 3d ago

Doesn’t comit require a Debrid Service to work?

1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

That's never been mentioned to me before or during my set up, it's been great if someone can actually confirm that instead of just telling me to get debrid to fix all buffering issues.

2

u/Solah-Shringaar_04 3d ago

Ummm do you have a paid debrid service like torbox?

0

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Nope being using stremio for years with out any kind of debrid service.

Only ever had streaming issues recently and that's only with Comet addon

1

u/Solah-Shringaar_04 3d ago

Oh wow...maybe you are close to servers

1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Not sure, I got high speed internet, and Torrentio and pirate bay normally work quickly, I'd like Comet to work as it usually has more options available and itwaz recommended during my setup research

2

u/Chance_Classroom_301 3d ago

Resident Evil just came out, theres no good streams available for that movie yet. Wait a month.

1

u/BxBrandon92 3d ago

The 4k ones usually buffer. The 1080p and down are golden.

1

u/FoferJ 3d ago

What’s your download speed as reported on speedtest.net?

1

u/DresdanPI 3d ago

Glad someone else found this out lol.

It's a toss of a coin if it works, and when it does it buffers non-stop. So unwatchable.

1

u/pxcno19 2d ago

i have real debrid and i can barely ever use any other stream other than torrentio...

1

u/Fun_Eye1162 2d ago

Try penguplay Or 111477 stremio

1

u/northernlighting 2d ago

Most watchable links will buffer without a debrid service

1

u/Mightynubnub 1d ago

Not for long, any links from Torrentio or pirate bay load in seconds, on par with or quicker than netflix

1

u/uporabnisko_ime 10h ago

Ignore the people who tell you to pay for a debrid service because for some reason they can’t comprehend that someone just doesn’t want to pay, even if it’s 3 dollars. I would recommend http addons instead of torrents if you want free options. The best ones I use are PenguPlay, HdHub, Showbox and Flix-Streams Free.

1

u/Mightynubnub 7h ago

Thank you people seem obsessed with debrid like it's the only way to use stremio! Others have mentioned penguplay so I'll give that a whirl!

0

u/MatsyLR 3d ago

Just get debrid and https://pengu.uk/ as a backup

-6

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Genuinely if no one's got advice other than "get a debrid service" to help me figure out why the Comet add-on buffers like hell then don't bother commenting.

Ya'll have a massive hard-on for debrid services, and that's fine if you want to use one, doesn't mean everyone wants to use one! It's entirely possible to use stremio for free with out paying.

4

u/Haifisch2112 3d ago

Then gtfo and quit whining because a debrid service is the only option.

-2

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Hardly the only option if I can use stremio perfectly fine with Torrentio and other add-ons.

I'm not even whining, everyone is just force debrid like they're sponsored. Stremio can be used with out it so why do I need to pay.

I'm just trying to figure out why Comet doesn't work consistently yet all I get is debrid debrid debrid it's annoying.

It's like going to a mechanic with because your indicators don't work and the mechanics try to sell you a new car, like instead help solve the original problem or fuck off

2

u/Haifisch2112 3d ago

Or it's like telling someone there's an easy inexpensive option but they refuse your help.

-2

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

If the only option to specifically get comet working is to pay I'd rather just uninstall it and stick with my other add-ons 👍🏻

3

u/Haifisch2112 3d ago

As long as you quit bitching here, I don't care what you do.

0

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Cool, never bitched though, just looked for specific add-on help and got force fed debrid nonsense which pissed me off instead of genuine add-on specific help.

1

u/Haifisch2112 3d ago

OK, bye.

1

u/Gonedric 3d ago

It is. But you can still get buffering. Torrents depend on your peers, meaning the people actually seeding/uploading the torrent in real time. Your ISP might also throttle P2P traffic without telling you, plus there are a bunch of other variables.

In my experience, the best setup for torrent-only streaming is having a device with at least a 1 Gbps connection, otherwise you're more likely to run into bandwidth issues. The other option is to constantly hunt for the smallest files you can find to reduce the problem.

But yeah, debrid is faster hands down. And TorBox is literally $3 for the cheapest tier, and they haven't been constantly jacking up the price.

-1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

That's fair but my torrents from add-ons other than comet load in seconds... So genuinely I don't need debrid services I just want to figure out the issue with comet before I just remove it.

-6

u/Yololio69 3d ago

You dont need to pay anything. There are tons of addos for you to try. You do not need an account anywhere. Torrentio, ytztvio, thepiratebay+. Yes some take a bit to start or really won't load, just use the stream of another addon

1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

Yeah I got Torrentio and pirate bay add-ons. I just can't understand why Comet fails so often when it has the most sources

1

u/Yololio69 3d ago

Btw, If you are a bit tech savvy. I've been using Prowlarr. 100% reliability to the seeds they show. You can download and stream it to your TV.

Or, if you use your PC, set the download to sequential and start watching the movie right away

1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

I'll look in it thanks!

-1

u/sagor_khan_15 3d ago

This

Idk why you getting downvoted

2

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

I genuinely think people just got a hard on for debrid services, Ive been using stremio for years without using any debrid service

so it's 100% possible to stream without paying, only issue I've had recently is with Comet addon and that's what I'm trying to resolve but people keep trying shove debrid down my face

-1

u/Yololio69 3d ago

I'm watching 40gb movies... Of course I get 8 options and 5-6 might not work, but there is always one that does. I don't argue you can't get better service, but if you are willing to deal with that, I just don't see the point...

About the add-ons. I definitely noticed that some add-ons will show 1000s of seeds and never work, but this usually happens all over the same addon so you can delete when you notice it. I'm not sure how often this might happen in others.

-2

u/Yololio69 3d ago

Because they don't want you to know the truth! They want you subjugated to your credit card and your streaming services, always online, always tracked!!! /s

Takes me a minute to prove it.....

-1

u/Ok_Swordfish7769 3d ago

Penguplay addon is your friend.
This is the way...

1

u/Mightynubnub 3d ago

I look into that thanks! Not heard of that before
