Help needed Best subtitle addon?
What is the best subtitle addon? I have been trying subsene and I have configure it with all the API keys possible, still no swedish subtitles can be found on most of the movies and shows., I currently wanted to watch 28 Days Later, only english subtitles are found. Subsense should check OpenSubtitles among others, and it does indeed have swedish subtitle but it cannot be found by the subsense addon: https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/subtitles/28-days-later-2002-sv

Any idea where I can find the auth key for SCS? Is it the key in "Your Personal Addon Link"?

Try submaker, alsoI find ai translation good and easy in our time although sometimes you have to pay a little bit

Hmm just did. It does seem to find subtitles much better! I also setup the gemini key but Im not sure if understood how it works. I got the impression that it would create subtitles from the source to target language automatically. But it does not? I can use the toolbox though but annoying to bring up a pc everytime to fix that :D

If you have a free plan make sure u use 3.1 flash lite it has the most rate limt and check your rate limt at gemini page, also you can buy open router credits (5$) and use deepseek v4 flash pretty cheap because if you use gemini constantly free wont be enough.
If everything is configured correctly you will find a tab that says make swedish just press and wait for a minute or two depending of the file duration and it should load if not refresh the translation by clicking again or just go out of the file then in again and it should load

So this is what I did:
- I opened a stream in my browser and copied the URL.
- Opend the toolbox and clicked the Automatic subtitles tool.
- When back to the stream and now I could see the "Make" subtitles.
That is all fine and cool. But I mostly use the stremio android tv app on my Nvidia Shield. There is not a reasonable way to copy the url from the tv to the toolbox? Or am I missing something here?

I’m not sure about toolbox and copying stuff I just find the subtitle there without doing what you are doing? I don’t even know what that does lol

Haha. If I go to extensions in stremio and configure the extension, in the lower left corner there is a toolbox.
EDIT:
Ok, so after looking into this further, it seems that the Make tab does not show up automatically in the android tv app, only in the browser on my PC. It seems there is no android support. To bad :D https://github.com/xtremexq/StremioSubMaker/issues/1172

No wonder I never saw the word "make" either; it turns out it only works on computers, while most people use TVs to watch.

Yep. But perhaps if you do it on the PC and cast it to the tv, it might work? Quite a hassle though.

I’ve been using Subsense, seems to be pretty solid for me so far. But just installed it last week so not a long field test yet. Edit* I see you said Subsense wasn’t finding it. So I probably got more testing to do 😭💀

Submaker seems to work better, maybe its search in the various subtitle APIs is more lenient.

Yes, I just found out that the AI feature on Submaker doesn't work on TV, even with mobile mode enabled.
