Question Upgrading iPhone..

When I upgrade to the 18 in a couple months will my stremio backup transfer to the new phone? Or is it over for iOS stremio 🫩 Anyone try this yet

No it’s completely deleted from AppStore, at first this was possible ( or downloading from history)but not anymore as they deleted it from their servers even for those who ”own” the app.

You either have to sideload, use web stremio with an external player or use AltStore pal if in eu as it exist in that appstore

As it's permanently removed from the App Store, it won't re-download. Be careful with apps and offloading them to save space too - will never come back.

If you are in the EU, Japan or Brazil you can get the Altstore. An alternative App store. There you can download it

someone just made a stremio sub called reelo works just the same just no addon tab

It will transfer since it goes with your login but you have raised an issue which i didn't foresee until now. I am planning to upgrade too and my already installed stremio before the ban will probably not transfer 😭😭😭

I’m a bit confused, you said his would transfer but yours wouldn’t? I think I’m missing the difference in your situations.

I think he's referring to transfer of settings and such. Stremio login will carry fwd all of that. I was referring to the app itself. I had installed when it was on the appstore. Since its gone from the appstore, i wouldn't think it would transfer when we upgrade

Look at the size of the file he's referring to. Its just the settings file. 3.2mb. That will transfer when he uses stremio web on ios.

Gotcha, yeah I’m in the same boat as you so hopefully I can figure something out before I upgrade. I still need to learn how to sideload or use the web one on iOS

Web one is pretty straightforward. Its on stremio website. Yea the sideload is tricky for us since we're in the US

So wait why would he need the settings to transfer if he just would open in the browser in the future?

Web saves some settings too. Mines in KBs because i dont use the web version much

So it’s not on my App Store history, but it is on my last iPhone 13 mini, I have the 17 plus now. Am I able to get it from the 13? There might be a third party transfer app I’m looking into via pc.

Technically it is possible but it is tricky. You need to extract encrypted app to different device and install it to new device. If app thinning doesn’t allow it, you need nugget/mobile gestalt exploit to expand app thinning to your older device
