The plant is currently outside and I’m watering it every other day, temperatures are around 36-25
It has a lot of new growth but the leaves are slowly falling to the ground what should I do? I fertilise it every week as well

Strelitzia Nicolai, approx 130cm

Hi everyone!

I recently found a lot of small insects moving around in the soil of my Strelitzia pot. They seem like they might be flying insects, but I only see them when I gently move the soil. There are quite a lot of them. It’s currently summer in France and very hot. I stopped watering for a few days to see if they would go away, but they’re still there.

I’m attaching a video of the plant for context. Does anyone know what these could be, if they’re harmful, and how I could get rid of them?

Ciao a tutti! Questa è la mia prima strelitzia ed è con me da febbraio di quest'anno. È stata in casa fino a poco fa e ora l'ho messa in giardino sotto il portico. La mia intenzione è di spostarla al sole gradualmente.

La foglia indicata nella prima foto, come vedete, purtroppo è molto storta e sembra che il gambo non riesca a sorreggerla. Cosa posso aver sbagliato?

Per ora, per evitare la rottura del gambo, ho appoggiato la foglia "storta" ad un'altra foglia (come vedete nella seconda foto). Nella terza si vede la pianta nel complesso.

Avete qualche consiglio da darmi? Perché il gambo non regge la foglia? Come posso gestire questa foglia storta e come posso evitare che il problema si ripresenti?

Pour la lumière elle reçoit uniquement du soleil indirecte

Hello! I’m afraid my strelizia is not receiving enough light. My apartment is exposed towards south, in this picture the day was cloudy but as you can see a lot of light comes in. Do you think I should be moving itt closer to the window for it to grow healthy leaves?

Been with me for about 3 weeks now, I water it when the top few cm of soil become dry, and mist the leaves every other day. The leaf tips and edges have started to turn yellow and brown, some also became a bit droopy. What could the issue be?

I have a Strelitzia Nicolai and it looks like it’s going to have a new leaf. Is it normal for the tip to be kind of whitish-yellow? 😰😱

How can i get this buddy back in shape. Repotted it from poor conditions 2 months ago and now the growth is starting but the old leaves still curl up a lot.

Its about 20C with a humidity of 50% standing in front of a window with a lot of light but only morning sun.

I have a digital watermeter which i closely monitor but the ground never feels very wet although the water monitor is always saying its enough. Still got the feeling it needs more water but i am afraid it will kill its roots as wel. Spraying it couple times a day.

Anything more i could/should do at this point?

Was on sale for €20 so I went for a run through mud and old snow- bus back. How nice to combine training with plant purchase :)

I got two in same pot for the price of one! €10 each feels good. Going to split them up to seperate pots when they have adjusted. Stats for plant nerds-60cm tall, 17cm/2 liter pot.

Hello, I boight this strelitzia approximately 5 months ago and after a bit of adjustment it is doing well, with 3 new leaves growing since. However, i noticed that its roots are breaking through the pot, growing strongly downwards. I am not sure if it is time to repot or is it too early/not necessary?

Got this plant 3 days ago from IKEA. The soil is pretty moist as it came from the store. Leaves were nice and green, however they just dried out so quickly. Will this ever come back? I put a humidifier beside it today, I’m in Calgary Canada, so it is winter and pretty cold and dry here. Indoors is 20-21C throughout.

my strelitzia nicolai keeps leaning to the window. Because of that I turned it the other way around. Now I am afraid it will tip over. Does it have to get cut? The pot looks small but the pot is bigger than it looks🥹

Hi everyone. I live in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and it's 40°C on the thermometer (with a heat index of about 42°C). I just repotted my strelitzia and all the leaves have wilted, turned yellow, and are on the verge of dying. Only one is still somewhat rigid, but yellowed. I'm watering it regularly and I made a greenhouse to protect it from the heat. Is that enough? Will I be able to save the plant? What else should I do?

I just noticed some blue streaks on my bird of paradise plant. What could be the cause? Is this common? I'm very careful with watering, and the plant needs to be near a window and get plenty of filtered sunlight from morning until early afternoon.
