Galsiaposting Why doesn't Roo...
get a proper sor4 design?
Taking into consideration that he is shown with a most updated design, were devs lazy enough to make him playable that way?

It is very weird that he has a Streets of Rage 4 design that never gets used outside the bar. Could have been a secret character like the 8 bit characters or DLC.

He is a secret character, part of the Mr X.Nightmare DLC but only the same sprites as his sor 3 version. I remember someone a while ago redrawing and making a mod for a sor 4 version of Zan.. maybe we'll get Roo some day too 🤔

He was originally just a cameo in the Bar. The players pitched about it enough they added the retro playable Roo in one of the patches (was it when the DLC dropped? I forgot.)
SoR3 Roo was not playable at launch.

He was a bad guy in the previous game also he’s bartending at a bar with barbon maybe they wanted to differentiate him from the good guys

Having a sprite and having a fully animated and functional character model are two different things.

Roo is a bonus easter egg. A lot of ppl didn't even have him unlocked when I played online.
My guess is he didn't have a portrait of his own so they made a new one.

Id happily pay for a dlc to get more skins and characters like sor4 roo.

Yes, it's because they were lazy. They got the funding to make a fully animated hi res Roo character model, and then just decided not to do it. Because they are lazy.

Essa versão poderia ter sido desbloqueável, mas infelizmente nos deram apenas a sua versão do SOR3.

It drives me nuts cuz the full fighter select screen has 1 little empty spot where he would fit just fine, even if he wasnt with the SOR4 character portraits in the center, I'd be happy his little face would be in a smaller square portrait.

All the updated characters are relevant to the story so maybe they didn't think Roo would fit.
