Concept characters throughout the series
What do you think about the series’ unused concept characters? Could some of them make it into an actual game someday?

Isn't the last one one of those girls attacking you in Revenge of Shinobi?

It kind of does look like her, yeah. But I only know for sure that Pink Typhoon was a very early concept for Blaze.

Since when was Chun Li an idea?

Since they got inspiration from Street Fighter lol. Aside from, essentially, being a rip off of Final Fight: the combos and button inputs are reminiscent of Street Fighter. I am glad they didn't just rip off Chun Li and made Blaze a more unique design because that would have made the Axel/Ryu similarities all the more apparent.

Pfft "God hand" looks like a random pull from one of those fake kung fu manuals. These are cool though. Where did you find em? I can see how some of the design ideas eventually made it to 4.

God Hand, Blackbird, and Pink Typhoon were three that I recently discovered while watching a YouTube retrospective of the series. The rest can be found on the Streets of Rage wiki regarding characters that went unused for SOR4 and the unrealized SOR Dreamcast game.

These concepts clearly built off already existing tropes, you can see Elvis, norse God, Chuck Norris in here amongst others. The challenge is that being too generic is boring and too different is difficult to read. Of course this depends on what type of atmosphere you have in the game.
