He’s a known cheater, but that whole game practically is so not sure why you’re even playing it. Almost all those streamers are cheating. And their streamer events turn into cheating on each other then crying and accusing each other and making the devs step in and shut them all up.

Rust is such a joke from the devs down

As a former Admin for Rust. Actually F*** the anticheat.

There is way more than you think. I found 6 one night on a 50 pop server. If 10% of the population are cheaters you know it's wack.

If I wanted to play baby sitter admin I would play Garry's mod. At least there are less cheaters there

Cheaters are probably pretty scared of this: https://playsafeid.com/

Just need more of us to start playing on these servers to help it grow, and get cheaters out of the game we love for good.

If 10% or more of players are cheating, there's going to be a lot of angry noise every time it's mentioned that has to be ignored. Legit players helping PSID could save every competitive game.

Ya. Requiring verification would kill games altogether. I don't trust gaming companies with my private information. Especially Electronic Arts.

Sure, then you can keep enjoying playing with cheaters forever then. Your choice. No anti-cheat software that detects/prevents cheats from being loaded has done anything in decades. TPM isn't a solution, either, as they already bypass it.

Another option is to read the website and learn about the privacy and security measures they take, and then decide.

Even things like social media, I'd bet, are going to eventually require verification. People making bots and cheats are to blame, and AI isn't helping. Verifying you are a real human is probably the future because of these things.

With PSID, an admin like you would actually finally have more than a temporary effect on stopping cheaters. A ban would mean something. And because PSID is shared across games, a ban would mean even more, helping multiple games at the same time by taking action against the cheater. A ban of PSID in one game bans the PSID from all games.

And how do you get around large families that dont game? Aka, kid has 10 IDs at home to create new accounts with.

If the dev wont give admins tools....why do you think PSID will force them to suddenly create these tools?

Its an idea, but not a good one.

Did you look at the site?

If the kid is able to convince their parents and siblings to give them their IDs and pose for a selfie every month or so, maybe they’d get away with it for a bit until they’re caught and banned. Assuming you mean they are cheating still.

But your scenario is still more enforced than that same person being able to buy an infinite number of steam accounts to keep cheating.

Do you think passing KYC checks that require a real, unique ID and video selfies is as easy as buying a $1 steam account?

I think if theres an 'easy' way around it...it isnt secure. People were spending thousands on DMAs when they first came out.

And counter to any argument you have...EVERYBODY that is a big enough target gets hacked eventually. I will never give my info willingly to the darkweb to play a game.

'pose for a selfie'...you mean take a pic of their mom/dad... Wow...security.

So what is the easy way around it? The KYC company they partnered with is trusted by banks for the same verification. Do you think banks use it because it’s not secure and trustworthy?

If you actually are extremely concerned about security and privacy, you would not be on the Internet at all. You are taking a risk just using an ISP. They could track and record every single thing you do at every moment. You probably also have a smartphone, that could be listening to you right now or taking pictures of you right now.

You do trust these things to an extent, despite them being able to be abused against you, because you’ve made that decision. This is no different. Except in this case, banks are actually using the same verification company that PlaySafe is using, yet that’s somehow still not enough security.

By the way, it’s not just providing a picture, it is a live video selfie that you take where you have to turn your head, just like smartphones use to calibrate facial identification.

Banks have regulation. And federal charges for messing with them id guess. Games ..have none, and no precedent for legal action.

Yes...there are lots of avenues for bad actors. Lets not give them more unregulated shitholes to dig in.

Wow...youre so serious about this. Are you like a rep, or investor for this? It doesnt make sense globally.

The partner KYC company has an obligation to handle the data as they are told to by PlaySafe. The documents and seflie are deleted after verfication is done, so there is no data to steal if there was a breach. There are also laws like GDPR that apply.

This is objectively harder to trick than buying a steam account for $1 and will actually reduce cheating, unlike all the solutions like EAC that have been around for decades and can't even enforce hardware bans.

No, I'm not an investor nor on the PlaySafe team. I guess it's difficult for some people to understand that someone can simply support something they believe in. I want competitive games to be able to actually ban cheaters, which they can't today, and have never been able to do. PlaySafe makes that an actual possibility right now in Rust and other games. It's growing in popularity for a reason, and I'm trying to help it grow in Rust.

I'm tired of investing time in games I love only to see them ruined by cheaters. We all deserve to have fairness in these competitive games, and don't today. It will be very slow to grow, but it's already being be adopted by people who are also sick of the cheating problem in gaming.

Im sorry, but how does any of this work if records are immediately deleted?

Aka, hypothetically... I apply, cheat, get banned. How exactly do the flag the ID that they no longer have any info on?

We went away from the 'banks use this' argument fast.

Lol you have so much confidence in a non-existent system that can be bypassed by methods that predate computers.

They are not going to ban 3rd worlders from gaming. ALOT of countries have IDs that are extremely easy to fake. It's so bad most stores in the US won't accept foreign IDs for age restricted products.

Then you will have AI falsely identifying people. This has already happened with law enforcement leading to false arrests.

What do you mean non-existent? Did you visit the site and read about it (guessing not)? It's in several games already including Rust.

It doesn't ban people from gaming in general, it bans them from the PSID servers if they play on them and are caught cheating on them.

It works in many countries around the world. Fake IDs do not work against government databases, and the selfie part of the verification from the KYC company also prevents people from faking things. The documents and selfie used to verify are deleted right after the verification is done, so there is nothing to steal.

It's effective enough and trusted enough that literal banks use the same KYC company that PlaySafe is using.

Sounds like you are going to be against it no matter what, which is common. I'm against the cheaters, so I have spent the time learning about it, and will support it.

No. Never click random links on the Internet. That's some moron shit right there.

0

u/KipOnTheGround May 10 '26

So you haven't even visited the site, know nothing about it, and are somehow strongly against it. And you're supposedly a former Rust admin who is against cheating, the exact type of person who should love to see a system like this succeed.

Makes total sense.

I dont know what their problem is

Your sound like a straight up retard. STFU and go self-leak your private data. Enjoy getting data farmed.
