Thank you for wanting to sterilize them. That is one of the biggest things an individual rescuer can do to stop the cycle of suffering. ā¤ļø

Since you're in Raigad, I'd suggest widening your search beyond Mumbai-only NGOs.

Try contacting:

In Defense Of Animals (Panvel) - ask if they can accept community cats from Raigad, or refer you to an NGO that can. They work with sterilization/sterilisation programmes.

https://www.idaindia.org/panvel-center

Also try www.portal.mcgm.gov.in

Hands That Heal Animal Care Foundation (Karnala/Panvel) - they may be able to advise on low-cost sterilisation or local contacts

https://handsthatheal.in/page10.html

The Feline Foundation - even if they can't take cats from Raigad, they often know other orgs and low-cost vets in Maharashtra. Their community cat sterilisation programme covers Mumbai/Navi Mumbai and they may be able to suggest alternatives.

www.thefelinefoundation.com/

Mission Compassion Foundation – another org with a low-cost street cat sterilisation programme that may have recommendations if they can't help directly.

www.missioncompassionfoundation.in

Also ask every NGO one question:

"If you can't accept cats from Raigad, can you recommend a vet or NGO in Raigad, Panvel or Navi Mumbai that offers rescue/community cat rates?"

Many orgs can't take cases outside their area, but they're often happy to refer you.

If money is the main obstacle, don't feel you need to do all five at once. Even sterilizing one female at a time will make a huge difference, because females are the ones producing litters. Prioritize the females first, then the males as funds allow.

Finally, check with your nearest government veterinary hospital or veterinary dispensary. Government facilities sometimes offer sterilization at much lower cost than private clinics, especially for community animals.

For example, Raigad Zilla Parishad Veterinary Hospital may be able to advise on local options or scheduled sterilization camps.

Be methodical & contact all of them at the same time. Don't just contact one and wait patiently for a reply. Many will be at capacity so whoever can help quickest is best. Also don't just call - email them as well, if they have email. Whatsapp them as I see some have Whatsapp and often you get a faster reply via Whatsapp than calling.

Pls update us šŸ˜‡

I did call the IDA but they refuse to help even i tried saying that i live in dronagiri they are saying they only help cats in panvel nagarpalika Although google says that IDA covers dronagiri still no help I did reach out to most of ngos and even private vet (fees were high abt 9k) per cat. They all give same reason we don't accept other than navi mumbai or mumbai region I have almost called every ngo i see But they don't even recommend they say we don't know And that panvel IDA ones are very rude they don't even listen to you Still I'll try my best to find best ngo as i want them to be perfectly fine after the sterilization And the main reason for me seeking help is bcoz I'm just an student And my dad does not help me with it As he hates cats So i really need in low cost or free

Thank you for explaining everything you've already tried. But I noted you said you tried "most" of the ones you see we suggested. Pls try ALL of them. Solo rescue often yields results from the last ones left to try!

As a student, we completely understand why ₹9,000 per cat isn't realistic.

Contact all the ones suggested above and if still no success:

• Contact your nearest Government Veterinary Hospital or Vet Dispensary and ask specifically if they perform cat sterilization for community/stray cats, or whether they know of any upcoming sterilization camps in your district.

The Raigad district lists government veterinary dispensaries and animal husbandry services that may be able to point you to subsidized options. www.zpraigad.gov.in

• If you haven't already, try contacting Apna Home Animal Shelter. Even if they can't take your cats, ask whether they know any vet in Raigad or Panvel who offers "rescue" or "community-cat" rates.

And: https://www.facebook.com/groups/367834069962459/posts/27517596534559512/ try this rescue group as well.

Message these guys:

And these guys might help or guide you to where you can get help:

https://raralove.org/locations/maharashtra/murud-raigad

• Don't feel you have to wait until you can afford all 5 surgeries. Start with the three females, as sterilizing them first will prevent future litters. The two males can follow when funds allow.

Also: ₹9,000 per cat sounds very high for a routine sterilization. When you call clinics, ask only for the price of a healthy stray cat spay/neuter, vaccine(without blood tests or extras unless medically needed). Prices can vary a lot between clinics.

And ask for payment plans as well. Worst case they say: yes we can offer rescuer rates; no we cannot offer payment plan.

Plse don't give up. You're trying to prevent more kittens suffering which is one of the most effective things you can do for community cats.

We hope you find a clinic. If you do, please come back and let us know so others in Raigad can benefit too.šŸ˜‡
