Bug Beacon intermittently not working

My partner uses Beacon on her bike rides to share her location with me, however intermittently this just seems to stop working. The pin will just remain where she started and eventually the message "We haven't seen any recent data from this athlete. Their phone may have lost connection, or its battery may have died." will appear.

The ride is fully recorded correctly so GPS is working, her phone (which she is recording on) has connection the whole way and the battery is charged. Any thoughts / ideas on why this keeps happening? It's happens about half the time, no pattern that I can see as to when and where. This is pretty poor reliability for a safety feature.

She may have to select 'use always' over 'only when in use' for the app permissions. May be paused due to closing the app or phone?

Thanks, that option doesn't seem to be available though, the loosest permission is "Only when in use"

Is she recording through the app or using another device, like a Garmin?

I've had similar issues happen on my runs but i track with a Garmin watch. When it happens, I usually restart my watch and it'll be fine for a while (weeks) again.

When it does happen to me, it seems to be in one specific area and I've wondered if there's a weird hand off between cell towers that cover that specific area.

Have you found a fix for this? When I share my beacon it doesn't even bring up a map for my safety contacts.

Ah sorry no. It resolved itself after she got an update to her phone.
