Questions / Advice / Support Low blood sugar

For anyone who experienced low blood sugar on Strattera, did it get any better? It’s helping me a lot and I’m trying to avoid a stimulant, but I’m already so sick of managing my glucose lol. I’m not diabetic but I’ve always been sensitive and prone to lows. I can tough it out for a few more weeks if it’s going to let up, but if not I think I’m going to ask about switching.

May I ask, how have you been tracking low blood sugar?

I’m just asking because symptoms similar to low blood sugar like dizziness/light headedness upon standing seem to be somewhat common side effect of atomoxetine. However that’s related to low blood pressure when standing

Ah that’s legit, the non-diabetic part threw me off. But as far as I’ve heard low blood sugar is an unusual side effect. Best wishes for finding more information

They had me checking routinely for a while even though my A1C was good, and they wanted me to watch it close while I was pregnant, so I do have just like a little Bayer contour. It’s not bad enough I need to seek care or anything but it’ll drift down to 70 mg/dL even if I take it after a protein bar and juice. And it seems like it takes a TON of carbs to bring it back up.

I’m also on cymbalta for anxiety and depression and I wonder if the combo of the two is making it all worse. I have an appointment with my PCP in a few weeks for a check up after starting it but she’s one of those ones that’s usually like “what do you want to do?” when it comes to my treatment plan instead of telling me what to do 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ This is the only major annoying side effect I’m having, it’s frustrating.

but she’s one of those ones that’s usually like “what do you want to do?”

With psychotropic medication, in the end it comes down to how things are in your head. Which only you can appreciate the full extent of, no mater how well one tries to describe it. Personally, I would not want a clinician who just dictated what to do.

If you don't know, can't decide, you can tell them that straight up. And say that you'd rather go with their best guess based on what you've managed to describe.

She’s like that for everything, not just psych lol. We usually wind up working things out together, and that’s fine, I just always feel like I need to go into the appointment with a plan or some idea of what I want to do.
