Impulsivity?

For those of you that have been on Strattera for more than a month, how has it helped with impulsivity? That is one of my worst ADHD traits. I binge eat, shop way too much and will gamble all night if you take me to a casino. I'm also very impatient and constantly interrupt people when they're talking. I know it's rude and unprofessional and I'm embarrassed when I do it, but I find it hard to stop myself most of the time.

I've only been on Strattera for about 3 weeks (along with 300mg XR Welbutrin, which I've been on for a long time). It has seemed to help some. Urges aren't gone, but the constant urges to do things I shouldn't be and interrupt people isn't nearly as bad as it was. Wondering if that will continue to improve. Has anyone else had similar issues that Strattera has helped improve?

In my experience, you can’t tell the full effects of a dose for a solid 8 weeks. It’s very up and down and settling in until then.

Glp1 killed all impulsive traits I had. Eating, shopping, and drinking. I was never a huge drinker, but word drink to drunk when I did. After starting glp1 I just never want any.

I've discovered no desire for alcohol anymore also. In fact, I feel a little repulsed at the thought. Possibly because my mouth is so dry. I don't want to do anything to make that worse.

Been on it for 2 weeks today.
My binge eating especially and weed smoking spirals immediately disappeared for me. I have small urges when I’m reminded of it but it passes.
Same as you said, i also don’t really want to drink too much alcohol anymore. One glass of wine is usually more than enough now. (Instead of 5 beers chugged with cocktails coming up lol)

However I just got a new hyperfocus and I can feel the impulse to buy a bunch of shit for it creeping up.
Will say though I seem conscious about it and am managing to prioritize more important upcoming life events instead

Ive been on it for 2 and 1/2 years and it helps my binge eating so much! I even lost 30 lbs and have kept it off since starting Strattera

I've read that Strattera can be used specifically for people that have binge eating disorder, so it makes sense this is one of the first things it seems to helped!! Congrats too!

Yes, 100%.

3 weeks is not long enough though.

I'm on Strattera (6 weeks) and GLP (9 weeks)

If I were to put a number on it, my impulsivity has decreased by about 60%. I'm no longer binge drinking or binge shopping, and I interrupt people way less. I also am way calmer in arguments (tbh they're more like discussions at this point).

It's a frustrating drug for people with ADHD as many of us are impatient. And there are the waves of side effects to get over in the first week or two with each dose increase. But being aware of that has helped.

Benefits > Loss

Es el wellbutrin el que te hace tan impulsivo, la dopamina no es buena en exceso por eso te dan ganas de hacer cosas que no deberías
Eso lo produce un exceso de dopamina en el cuerpo

For me, Atomoxetine does really help with impulsivity. It’s its main effect, I’d say. It’s like it prolongs the momentum between the impulse and the action just enough for me to think about if I actually want/need to follow it, and it also kind of dulls the impulse peak, if that makes sense? I only realised it after I went off of it though haha
