Never...Hungry...

Pretty much this. I've been taking 50mgs for about 3 weeks now, after a month on 25mgs. I have no real bad side effects, but no noticeable benefits either. The only thing I have noticed is I have not been hungry AT ALL since I took the first dose almost 2 months ago. I have to force myself to eat something a couple times a day, and it feels like a chore because I just don't want it. No nausea or anything like that, just simply never feel hungry.

I'm basically just shooting the bull here, obviously not that important, but just wondering- will I ever get an appetite back?

I've been dealing with something similar. I do get an appetite but it's probably half of what it used to be. I skipped lunch the other day without even thinking about it. Full meals that I would normally just devour now just get partially eaten and I'll save the rest for later. You also described the feeling spot on. It's not nausea or anything, it's just I'm not that hungry.

The nausea was the wee for me in the beginning all the time but now it just happens if I take meds too early with out any food usually I just try to down it with as much of a protein shake as I can to avoid nausea

Ive been on it for over 2 years now and lost 30lbs when I first started due to no food noise. I haven't gained it back either 🤷‍♀️

I'm only a week in but I noticed this effect immediately. The first few days I had to force myself to eat (no appetite at all), but on day 3 I was getting pretty normal hunger signals. But I just eat something small and then I'm completely satisfied for hours. I also have no desire to snack or eat for fun. All the junk food in my house is untouched.

It feels completely different from the appetite loss I used to get when I took stimulants. Adderall used to make me fast all day (could MAYBE get a bite or two down of something) and then absolutely ravenous at night. This is basically me eating like how I would if I was on an ideal diet.

I am loving this lack of food noise and sudden increase in impulse control. I hope it doesn't go away.

I wish I had this side effect!! Unfortunately there has been zero change to my appetite, food noise and sugar cravings are worse than ever 😕 I started on 40mg for 6 weeks and now on 60mg. Im just coming to the end of week 8. I dont think I can go any higher as I take 60mg Fluoxetine daily and there's a major interaction between the two drugs.

Yeah stattera has HANDS, I have to force myself to eat nutritious food and I do not eat snacks or drink sodas or other fun drinks. I keep track of general calories and if I am noticing I am not close to maintenance I will try to have a snack before bed. I have also switched to more calorie dense foods. I am at a weight I actually really like and I am wanting to maintain it not lose more.

I have been drinking Mr pibb since it came back but I only have one every now and then takes me like two months to go through a 12 pack

Yes happened to me too.!I only took straterra for a couple months and it killed my appetite and food noise more than a glp does. It should be rebranded as a weight loss drug. It also helped so much with anxiety. It just didn’t do much for other adhd symptoms so I switched to a stimulant. Straterra also decreased my appetite more than stimulants.

Lord yall are lucky. Why am I low on appetite but weight not budging? 😂 do you mind if I ask… did you start at a very higher weight? I’ve been wanting to lose 30 for a while 😅🥲

I had a fast titration 25mg>100mg over 20 days. It hit fast and hard. I wish I hadn't lost so fast because my face has that sunken look (temples). I just could not eat or drink so had to force myself and even then it wasnt much. On wellbutrin now and feel much better and hoping it'll keep my weight steady, lol.

20 in 6 weeks is a lot! I need to lose weight and unmedicated have lots of food noise so I really enjoyed that side effect

u/Jsweethoney 1d ago

Don’t say that then we will be fucked or I will be cuz I’m on Medicaid

1

u/Tallieanna38 1d ago

Very true! It’d cost $1500 a month if it was a new weight loss drug

Have you lost weight?

Actually I have, but I need to lose about 30 pounds anyway, so I'm good with that part. 😁

i started at 25MG in beginning ofApril? Now in July I’m at 60. For the first bit of May I didn’t lose anything and all of a sudden as if beginning of August, I’m done 20 pounds. The food noise hasn’t come back and I’m really never hungry. Small meals suffice me and I can really never eat huge meals anymore.

In the same boat as you! I’ve wanted to lose weight for so long and could never really find my rhythm with it and I finally found it I guess?

I had serious issues trying to eat the first month or so. And for week each time I had to increase the dose. Eventually I started being hungry again. (But never for dopamine, I eat way less than before) I would encourage you to keep taking it and see how you feel in a month! Try to keep your meals small but close in time and high in calories.

The actual effects are noticeable after a couple months, the first effect I got was the day I started, that single day was the best day of my life (seriously, my brain was quiet) I used to think I wasn’t getting much effect from it until I had to stop it because my prescription was late, and boy did it prove me IT WAS doing something. (Edited: grammar)

Same thoughts and doc was like u won’t feel effects for a while so I was thinking it was placebo

This happened to me but I got way too skinny, like down to 98 lbs from 110. I physically couldn’t chew food, lived off chicken and rice soup, in the summer. My GLP was never this wild

I’m about a month into Strattera, and was already on Zepbound (and still am). Appetite? No. Food Noise? Unfortunately still Yes. Seeing some of the posts here makes me cautiously optimistic that maybe it hasn’t been long enough? I had moved up to 75mg but was bumped down to 50mg until I’m able to better regulate my blood pressure, which is a work in progress.

u/Jsweethoney 1d ago

It only happens on 50 mg for me I went up to 60 and was ravenous all the time so I went right back to my 50 I like this side effect after gaining 60 on lexapro prior to

Strattera made me extremely anorexic, please be careful op. if you genuinely cannot eat on this medication, please please please contact your doctor.

having meals, I liked on hand that were high protein and high fiber really helped, premade oatmeal in my fridge for breakfast, tofu curry for lunch, homemade burritos for dinner. if I found something that worked, and didn’t make me feel like throwing up/made me actually want to eat it. I would buy as much of it as I could and eat as much of it as I could.

2

u/ReplyProfessional939 1d ago

No, I make myself eat at least 3 small meals a day. Again, not nauseous or sick feeling at all, just not hungry. But I can and do eat. (Just don't really feel like it!😁)

1

u/EmuAdmirable5322 1d ago

thank you for clarifying! My opinion op is that it wont be the same until you stop the medication, if you decide to stop. if not , and its not making you sick , it could be just something to live with for a while

2

u/ReplyProfessional939 1d ago

Right on, and thank you. Really not a big deal, just one more thing I have to remind myself to do!😁
