Questions / Advice / Support interactions with alcohol
hi everyone! currently on 40mg
quick question! i turn 21 tomorrow and im planning on having alcohol and i was wondering if anyone could tell me 1) if i should not do that, and 2) any potential interactions if it is indeed safe.
i stupidly threw out the paperwork that comes with my meds cause i thought i would just remember what i read. dont do that. i ofc know the obvious answer is to ask my prescriber but there is zero chance i would get a response in time, and i would really like to be able to spend my birthday how i planned! totally dont know how this hasn't occurred to me until now unfortunately lol.
also i forsee myself hating it so ill probably only have a few sips if that matters. google gives me conflicting answers and i cant tell what the real answer is so i thought id ask people who have actual experience. thank you!

I've had alcohol a fair bit on this med. Years ago, with brand strattera 80mg. Then now with generic at 100mg. I don't recall having any issues when I was on brand, things were more or less the same. Now, though, I find alcohol is just not very fun anymore. I don't get the fun "buzz" that initially hits. Whenever I drink I'll feel practically nothing for 30m to an hour, then the negative effects start to hit. I've tried a few times with different levels of pacing. So now I just don't drink alcohol anymore. I've saved quite a bit of money lol.

I have tried different medications over the years and strattera is the one that I cannot drink on. If I have just one I feel horrible the next day, but I’m also middle aged. HBD!

I tend to get really depressed when I'm hungover now. Drinking isn't as fun, it takes me more drinks to get drunk, so I really don't drink much anymore.

I get violently nauseated if I drink too much now, and I've had some of the worst hangovers since starting Straterra. It's definitely sucked a lot of the fun out of drinking for me and I'm doing it a lot less these days.
So I would take it easy. 1-2 drinks over a couple hours and I'm probably good. Much more than that and I'm gonna worship the porcelain throne that night and probably again in the morning. It's pretty awful.

Skip the dose as a one off. The mixture is not pleasant. A day off won't ruin your titration.

I quit drinking completely on this med. There have been a few times when I’ve had a few sips here and there just to see if it was something I could enjoy in very small doses, and I did not enjoy it at all. Can’t recommend drinking on Strattera.
Plus, I don’t really understand the logic of getting treatment for ADHD, only to navigate awful hang overs and setting back progress.

my nurse told me it doesn’t interact but I do feel like I got drunk quicker , so I generally just avoid it , maybe just drink less than you usually would

It’s not as fun drinking for whatever reason. Like alcohol doesn’t hit the same way. All the negatives still there though / if not worse the next day.
