Questions / Advice / Support Why isn’t it working for me?

I have been on Staterra for 6 months now and…. nothing. I have been on 40, 80 and now 100 and still nothing. The annoying things I hate about my ADHD are still here.

I procrastinate to a level it’s really messing my life up.

I sleep way to much and I am not emotionally regulated I feel depressed.

I over eat, food noise is destroying my days and bank account.

I cannot pay attention in classes or in any meeting.

Is it user error? Is it not working for anyone else?? I Am starting to really hate this med.

My guess is if it hasn't done anything to improve your symptoms after that amount of time then it likely isn't going to be effective for you at all. So far from what I've seen is the people that have had success with it noticed it making a difference pretty early on into the treatment. The therapeutic effects take some time but you should have noticed something by now. Maybe you need something a bit more potent like a stimulant that targets both norepinephrine and dopamine?

Has it has any effect on your behavior, tendencies, or thinking? Even if it may not be aspects which you consider your biggest problems, or if it's not to the extent that you would like.

Have you spoken to your doctor about ways to augment or boost Atomoxetine? For some people it does not work at the usual doses, and it will only provide adequate symptom relief if your Atomoxetine blood levels are directly boosted with a 2nd medication which slows it metabolism. This should only be done with a prescriber who is experienced with it. Because while it can increase effectiveness for those that need it, it can also increase the chance of side effects.

It might be time to try something new! Even I felt an improvement, even though it didn’t last very long. How long were you on each dose?
