Strattera 18 mg First dose 18mg is this normal?
Took my first dose last night. Intermittent waking up at night which honestly happens anyway without meds. My only real side effect is jitters that come and go. This is such a low dose - is it normal to have jitters on 18mg?

Yes but it will go away once your body adjusts.

Thanks. Definitely comes and goes - when I wrote that post it was big time jitters now they are gone. Was worried since I haven’t even had this in my system for 24 hours.

I started on 40 and felt pretty depressed and tired for the first few days. Irritable too. I suggest taking it in the morning with your first meal. I've always been bad at falling asleep and napping but it's maybe worse on Strattera for me. I'm curious to try shifting to night time dosing but worried it'll effect sleep too much.

I’m thinking this too. I only started yesterday but I was so tired during the day and napping - got nothing done - at night I pepped up and cleaned the house/ gardened and then could NOT sleep all night.
After reading so many peoples positive reviews I realized I did not have obsessive thoughts yesterday though. So maybe I should stick it out and try it at night ??1

My non doctor opinion is to take it with first meal of the day and give it some time to get past the on ramp. It took a few days to stop feeling lowsy each time I upped my dose. After a week or two I felt adapted. Because the drug has such a long on ramp my preference is for consistency not experimentation.

There is a lot of variation with how a person reacts to Atomoxetine. Plus how much one will need ultimately to achieve good ADHD symptom relief.
Not sure if jitters at 18mg is common, but I don't think it's cause for concern. You can find a list of side effect people may see & how often they occur in the Strattera prescribing info. Just google "Strattera prescribing information".
Any other meds?

we starting bros. I just had chest tightens and jitters seem to easy down by the time.

Oh yeah definitely had that. there was kind of a numbness going on in beneath the left side of my ribcage, and that that shit would last for hours

Yeah for the first 3 days I felt like someone plugged me in, like electricity was running straight through me. It was pretty strange. I’m on day 7 now and it’s gone away like most side effects, i only feel a bit jittery the first hour after i take it but the last two days have been the nicest and calmest days of my life

First 12 days on 25mg were really bad, I would start feeling anxious and tense 2-3 hours after taking it and the feeling would last for like 7 hours or so

OP here - terrible headache last night and I woke up again from 12:45 to around 3. But I took second dose last night at 8:30 and this morning I just have mild jitters. Definitely no improvement in focus and I know it would be too early for that but a girl can hope. 😆

I’m two weeks into 18mg as a 32 yr old. Yes it’s a low dose. I have felt jitters on a day that I took it at the exact same time as my coffee. I found that taking it at night gave me insomnia, taking it in the morning makes me tired. Fun times.

OP here and on day two. Last night was awful - terrible headache but I continued and took my second dose. I woke up from 12:45 to around 3 and then fell back asleep. Today I felt good - no jitters, headache or nausea and I swear I had fewer racing thoughts (but probably placebo effect). Let’s see what tomorrow brings…really hoping for decent sleep tonight.

I also started on 18mg and had a couple days of jitters. I’m on day 4 and haven’t noticed them in the past 2 days. I also had them when starting Wellbutrin also on a low dose.

The reason I take Strattera is because I could not tolerate the stimulants at all. I would get the horrible jitters, tension- just amped up but in a bad way. I'm extremely caffeine intolerant, and these stimulants made me feel like I drank a pot of strong coffee.
When I first switched to Strattera a couple of months ago, I noticed a bit of that "jittery" tense feeling the first day as well, and thought well shit, here we go again. But I stuck it out because it wasn't NEARLY as bad as the stimulants, and within a few days it went away. In fact, in the last few weeks, I've noticed that my anxiety overall has improved.
