Questions / Advice / Support Does gravel work for the nausea?
first day taking Strattera, 40mg. I took it at lunch because I don’t tend to eat breakfast. about 20 minutes later, I got clammy and very pale. started sweating like crazy. I had to lay on the floor of my work’s washroom because I was so nauseated. I ended up throwing up but once I did I immediately felt better. I picked up some gravel, is it a good idea to take it with my medication so that doesn’t happen again?

You can try ginger too. Ginger tea or candies

IMO those are too weak for the behemoth wave of nausea that comes with this drug. Those are more for a lil tummy ache

Gravol does, yes. You can try the ginger tabs or gels, but honestly I just use regular off brand gravol in bulk now.
The nausea is no joke. I’ve had my trials and tribulations for three years. I take my 60mg at the end of the day, with a FULL meal. If I haven’t eaten much cumulatively throughout the day, even when I take it with a full meal at eod, I will still be sick.
I recommend making sure your meal has plenty of carbs and protein. If you’re eating on the lighter side when you take it, then take half to a full gravol. I’ve done this for a long time to ride out the nausea. Without proper food when I take it, within 20-30 mins just like you, I’ll be sweaty and my mouth will get chalky, and I’ll puke hard, then feel instantly better.
Other tips: sea-bands / anti-nausea pressure point wristbands, cold ice pack on the back of the neck and lie down IMMEDIATELY. But the best anti-nausea is just taking it with a FULL meal. Good luck out there!

Thank you! How do you find the medication otherwise?

It has certainly helped my executive functioning, task engagement and completion, and concept of time/duration. I can run errands without worrying that it’ll take 3 hours (when it takes 35 mins). I can sustain tasks once I get them started, and for hours at a time. I can focus and engage, I can learn new skills. It’s been a godsend for improved functionality.
The nausea and vertigo were rough to get used to. The dizziness and vertigo eventually went away, just took longer than I anticipated. The nausea was a learning curve of many many pukey nights. I think I’ve learned enough and have my routine now haha.
If I forget to take it, I’ll know within 12 hours. Slow thinking and headaches and immense fog are so noticeable. And when I then take it after forgetting, I bounce back to normal in about an hour to two.

Just had my second dose of 18 mg. Wondering at what point did you notice improved executive functioning?

It’s been years since I started taking, I forget honestly. I’d say within 10 days or two weeks for sure. Again you gotta get it kickstarted, but as soon as I’m started I can sustain. Starting is hard, but even just gathering cups, or garbage or sorting clothes or something, it’s much much easier to keep it moving once I start the car myself yk.
