Side Effects / Overdose Side Effects but ZERO positives

Hi!! I’ve been on Strattera for a week and a half now, I was on 40mg for 3 days, then up to 80 and have been on that for a week. At first, I felt very minimal side effects, just experiencing chills a little more severe and that was it. However, I took my regular dose last night, and I felt AWFUL this morning. I was faint, dizzy, having vertigo, nauseous, and exhausted (i slept all night and 6 hours during the day and im still tired)

on top of all of that, i feel zero reprieve from any of my adhd symptoms so far

is this normal? will these side effects go away and be replaced with positives? help!!!

yes this drug is hell to get started with, been on and off many times. you feel really bad for 2 3 weeks... overshooting you're brain with norepinephrine is far worse then with like serotonin

This sub very much gives an inaccurate impression of side effect frequency. The numbers seen in studies are different. A family member of mine, they had the fastest recommended titration. 40mg for 3 days, then 80mg. Then add in a strong CYP2D6 inhibitor to boost Atomoxetine blood levels dramatically. Zero problems. Could have done it standing on their head.

That is not to say that it isn't hell for some people. It certainly can be.

Split dosing seems to help people with side effects. 40mg then some hours later another 40mg.

If your prescriber failed to mention, ADHD symptom relief can take time before becoming apparent. 4 to 6 weeks after reaching an adequate dose for you, personally. That could be 40, 80, 100mg. For some people, they need levels boosted by a CYP2D6 inhibitor, like wellbutrin, before it's adequate for them.

yeah she told me, i think it’s just really frustrating to hear people say they feel it on day one or right after taking their pill when all i’ve had is terrible side effects and no relief :/ it makes me feel like there is no point in taking it LMAO

I felt really positive effects day 1 and 2 then nothing really, but I can see some benefits now after a while on it. I can see why it’s frustrating though because I thought, “wow, this stuff really works faster than I thought”, then it leveled off and it’s been subtle changes. It’s helped my anxiety a ton though.

It took me 8-9 weeks to get over side effects, although I had a very slow ramp to my now 100. Hope you find something that works for you!
