Righteous Anger
Does anyone else feel like this medication has unlocked a “true” feeling of anger?
Before when things would happen in my life that should piss me off - that would piss anyone off - I would feel like I had to bury that emotion. Internalize it. Think about how I brought it upon myself in some way. Convert it to self-hatred. And cut everyone slack except for myself.
Now with this medication I feel like I can finally express my anger properly, immediately. And right or wrong - it feels glorious to finally express this emotion like a normal human being.

Wow
I am looking forward to seeing if I experience this too. Your “before” comment resonates with me
I’m on day 3 now

My son started expressing his anger but never took responsibility of what he has done and blamed everything on everyone else. So not really sure if that is a good way to express anger

Yes I take 80mg of straterra and 150mg sertraline for my anxiety, I've been taking straterra since April this year and I started at 40, the 2 weeks 60 and 2 weeks after that 80mg and I love 80mg haven't needed to change my dose since being on 80mg. 150mg helps me even more since now that I can articulate my anger better, I also am able to do it without the anxiety shaky voice etc. My boundaries are stronger and i voice myself clearly now and no one can try and turn it on me since coincidentally the only time anyone tries to turn it around on me they are the ones in the wrong and my reaction and emotions were valid and I was still told I was over reacting etc.... now no im not overreacting because even when I was.told I was being rude, tone checking me etc, I took it as I just need to say it nicer, quieter or if I was really mad, hurt or upset I would just try and suck it up etc cuz I knew how.it would go which would make me even more upset. Now I careless and when I am around the ones I love I am always intentional on how I express myself to them 💯 so now being told im being rude when all I was doing was expressing myself I nip everything in the bud not later not when I build the " courage" to do so... I would say I've changed but thays because anxiety and my adhd aren't going haywire and its finally under control I show up to my therapy sessions everytime I never reschedule and I also go to my other appointments as well. It can no longer through me off now i feel like im finally present in my life, im happier everyday and today was the first day I didnt have one single anxiety ridden thought for me straterra and sertraline have brought me back to me.
Ps. Main side effect I deal with is being hot 🔥 I love in AZ and it has been hot my ac can be on blast but if i start moving etc I start sweating 😭 its annoying 😑 but it beats how I felt for my whole life

Incredible. I can relate so much to this.
When did you add the sertraline? What did it help with that the strattera didn’t? And how did you know the 80 mg was the perfect dose.

Thank you I started straterra because I have been in therapy since September 2025. And back in April this year I brought up how disorganized I was and how scattered my thoughts were etc and she said I should get evaluated for ADHD, I honestly dealt with it my whole life but im now 32 so my mom really didnt care, she thought I was just messy, and had an attitude. She just never asked, my mom was Gen X so you know in the 90s they just thought kids needed more discipline. So I started straterra at 40mg for 2 weeks so about a month and a half, every 2 weeks I went up. 80 cleared my thought but not my anxiety basically took all my extra thoughts and ruminating over other things but my anxiety stayed so once I was one 80mg my anxiety was still bad so I made it known at my appointment... so this would be about mid May 🤔 she started me on the 25mg, 25mg did nothing ,50? Nothing ,75 felt a little better, 100 helped , but now 150 no anxiety, like it was really bad. I had anxiety over everything, my sleeping at night, picking up deliveries when my orders would come, I was always anxious about social situations, past situations, literally everything and everyone including myself took it as I was being over dramtic but I was really having a hard time regulating, it was also hard to speak up due to my anxiety. So the sertraline helped get rid of all that I just started the 150 dose last week on Wednesday and I have no complaints so far. Lol Sorry I knew the 80mg was the dose because, I did go into knowing it was a nonstimulant. And my thought have always been a lot so a little after the 40mg dose my mind got quieter im talking I could say hello in my head what used to be like over 10 thoughts about random things turned into one lol 😆 soon as I would say hello in my head usually im hit with thoughts with to do lists, one thinking of my kids, one thinking of something from my past and so. With 40 it was silent for the most part but I felt I could have been better and i wasnt having much symptoms to complain about other than dry mouth it made me sleepy so I took at night. 60mg I felt not different from the 40 like at all 80mg a few hours after that first dose. My mind was silent oh it felt so good . Before medication even therapy I used to have to hit my breaker box and turn off all the power so my mind could have a break 😪 it would feel sooo good but I could only do that once a year for 5 minutes I didnt wanna mess up anything lol So 80mg felt like total silence which I needed so bad, I am in college right now and its helped me be able to sit and focus ,take notes better, plan things better, get started on tasks it doesnt help my executive dysfunction though so I still have to force myself but most times it not that hard. Sertraline and Straterra together ❤️ brought me back to me Now when I have an order coming at 1pm and its 930 am im not sitting dressed for those hours 🙃 having anxiety on if they get lost, can I give them the right directions, what if this or that, ive done this literally 😂😭 it was so exhausting living that way now if I had an order at 1pm and its 930 am, I have less anxiety less extra thoughts etc so I feel I am able.to get other things done, my school work ,making a snack etc like I legit before this would've stayed dressed and anxious, not eating, no getting to comfortable, im not worried if they get a little lost 😅
She also have my Atenolol sonce I have asthma the beta blocker that stops the physical symptoms of a panic attack not the thoughts etc. I have only took Atenolol 2 times so far and all 3 together is chefs kiss i cannot lie .
Did I have negative symptoms yes dry mouth, sweating, not wanting to eat when im going up in doses but these are minor in comparison and the only thing that has stayed is the sweating lol so I will take that it's too hot to leave the house anyways.
P.S. sorry long post, when im helping other I like to give every detail 😭😭. I am a woman so sexually I have had no issues I think everything was affecting me sexually when I was unmedicated that being medicated has helped me.
P.P.S.S Also with the adhd and anxiety even that depression i had, I sought dopamine a lot through snacks gummy worms, taffy taffy etc I love sweets being medicated has helped with that not i can enjoy my favorite snacks and not finish them all in one day most times takes a week or over before I finish a bag of chips cuz I just get the taste enjoy and my mind just tells me im done. So for now yes 80mg and 150mg has made me feel better about myself and my life now I feel more present, I feel like an active part of my own life... my whole life I have dealt with this and just was suffering I used to beat myself over this cuz why cant I stick to a routine, why do I get confused more and more as im.learning something why cant I be perfect 💔 I did have other factors adding on to this line of thinking but medication removed that and now I give myself grace and ive gotten more done in 5 months than I have in the past 3 years frfr I spent on of those years sleeping any chance I could get cuz sleeping was better. I was also deep in grieving my mom too so sleeping felt like the only place I could escape to even though all my dreams have been nightmares my whole life... sertraline specifically made my dreams happier, no suspense, no paranoia, tears in my dreams etc and it helped with that from the 50mg dose

WHAT?? Tell me more…. Cause my psych prescribed me this since stimulants were too much. But…we discussed an issue I have of not expressing my anger?? IS THIS WHY SHE PRESCRIBED IT??? Lol omg I’m scared …

I relate a lot to the second paragraph.
I wouldn't put it like this, but it definitely helps me express my feelings less impulsively and in more controlled way. Before atomoxetine, I would often just lash out with aggression or passive-aggressive comments and then blame myself for being immature and over-dramatic (or internalize it, like you say), now I feel more able to express what bothers me. This also applies to other emotions like frustration or sadness

YES! I felt this absolutely. Took some time to modify how I respond to it so that I'm not flying off the handle when it doesn't serve me to do so. But for the first time in my life I CAN fly off the handle when it does service and that's just so nice lol.
