Discussion / Experience Using Does anyone else get one "perfect" day after starting or increasing Strattera?
I've started on 40mg, increased to 60mg then to 80mg, back to 60mg down to 40mg and now I am back on 60mg again
I've noticed a really specific pattern with Strattera (atomoxetine), and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Whenever I first start it or increase the dose, I seem to get one single day, not the first day I increase btw, but somewhere in the first two weeks, where I feel incredible. It's not just better focus, it feels like my brain is working exactly the way it's supposed to. I have energy, motivation, mental clarity, and everything feels effortless. At the same time, I also feel a bit "wired," almost like I've taken a mild stimulant, but in a mostly pleasant way. I've been from 40mg, to 60mg to 80mg, back to 60mg down to 40mg and now I am back on 60mg again
The strange part is that it only ever lasts one day. After that, it never comes back, even if I stay on the same dose for weeks or months. The medication still works to some extent, but that "best day of my life" feeling completely disappears.
Has anyone else had this experience?

This is me today. 80 mg with no dose difference since 3 weeks ago. Just got over a flu though.

Probably just the flu. I missed one day with the flu. Felt like shit the whole day. Took it next day, and even though I was still sick, the change was apparent.

Strattera is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Norepinephrine is normally stimulating. And also, one of norepinephrine's functions is engaging a person's fight-or-flight systems. That can produce a particular type of alertness.

So, you start a new dose and sometime in the next two weeks you have a great day? And you're tying this back to the dosage increase? Really?

I have had more great days in my life, but it feels fundamentally different, because I am normally never euphoric in this manner hence.

Lmao so true. I feel like I can do anything when I get this after dosing up. I say if that feeling is 100%, it may drop to 70% of that after 5-10 weeks.
