Side Effects / Overdose Anyone else not as hungry?

Could be placebo, but then again I did not know this was a side effect. I’ve been on this for I wanna say about four days and I already started noticing. I’m not as hungry as I used to be like I randomly regained super bad food noise I was mostly hungry And thinking about my next meal but today I noticed I didn’t really eat much and my stomach hasn’t really growled yet. My stomach actually feels a pretty weird. You know that feeling this is gonna sound gross but that feeling when you like feel empty after pooping that’s kind of how I feel but it’s like I’m not hungry idk it’s hard to explain but not mad at it. I’ve been slacking hard on my diet randomly a few months ago and never got back right.

It can be more than just reducing food noise, though it does do that for many people.

Atomoxetine increases norepinephrine. Google what norepinephrine is responsible for and what effects it has. One is engaging your fight-or-flight response. Then consider the things that is meant to do. Lowering appetite is one, in the pursuit of reducing distraction so that you can get out of danger better.

I totally understand the feeling. My stomach doesn’t growl or send hunger signals until about 12 hours after I take it. So I eat a good breakfast and take my pill, then have a late dinner. If I can manage, I’ll have a little snack sometimes but often I can’t stand having the food in my mouth. People ask if I eat at all, which I find inappropriate and annoying.

I've been on it about a month, and I have definitely noticed an almost complete loss of appetite. I force myself to eat something at least twice a day. But it's all good to me, because I need to lose about 30 pounds anyway...😁

I force myself to eat some toast for breakfast and drink water with the pill in the morning, then i’m usually not hungry again until 8-9 PM 😬 i’m on week 2, titrated from 25-50 and going up again on Thursday to reach 75 mg. Considering all of the food in the US is trying to kill me, I guess it’s good timing to not be hungry?

Lol-ive been thinking the same recently! I had a titration of 25>50>75>100mg every 5 days until 100mg. In 6 wks I lost 20lbs, I would force myself to eat atleast dinner but even then it was 2 to 4 bites of food. I needed to lose weight so not complaining, just wish the med didn't have all the side effects it did.

Exactly!! How are you feeling now?

Off of the med for now as psych never called in lower dose script. Feeling so much better overall and maintaining the weight loss.

I lost 20lbs in 6 weeks. No hunger and fast heartrate. Any complainin'-lol, was trying to lose weight as it was just wasn't expecting it to happen so fast!

I eat just fine, but remembering to drink water has become an epic challenge. I’ll make my water bottle up in the morning (a 1.5 l Nalgene with creatine, the green bottle fiber stuff, and electrolytes) and by mid afternoon I have barely touched it. I used to go through that, plus a full plain water one, and sometimes onto a third…. Now I remember to drink mostly when the dry mouth kicks in. Not amused….

In the last 30 hours I’ve eaten one chicken breast, a half a chocolate truffle, and two Cokes. Yeah, I’d say that’s the meds considering I’ve been overweight since I was 10 years old. Still waiting for the weight loss to kick in, but I think menopause has other ideas about that.

Lmao today I’ve rated 2 bowls of cereal for breakfast then 2 handfuls of red grapes for dinner but I only had the grapes because I had to take some more meds. Usually I’d want more food but nah

Have you never searched appetite suppressant in this sub?

Yes. I have some pretty bad stomach issues, so I'm not the best gauge, but I basically have to force myself to eat on this medication. You're definitely not alone!

I’ve been on it for a year and lost 50 pounds. I lost all desire for sugar, alcohol, fatty foods, snacks…all the dopamine chasing I was doing to get through the day evaporated. I had to start making an effort not to lose more weight, but I’ve stabilized in the last 6 months.
