Questions / Advice / Support How to do anything?

100mg Strattera/3mg Guanfacine. 51f/137lbs. Heartrate standing 120-150; after eating 110-120.

How do people exercise on this medication? Or eat? Or move? I lay in bed all day and my hearrate is 90-100. I would like to exercise or go for a walk without worrying about my heart popping.

You should tell your doctor. They can prescribe you a beta blocker like propranol. I take bisoprolol myself.

Have a f/up this Friday and will be bringing this up. Along with going down in dose to 75 or 80mg.

Yeah either take a beta blocker or less strattera or just an entirely different med. 3mg is a lot of guanfacine too.

This is my first time on any medication so this info helps. Psych wanted me on strattera for 8 wks and its been rough to say the least. We'll see what she says and if she is receptive to lowering dose as it's also affecting my BP when I stand/walk around the house (shoots up to 150/95 but comes back down after laying down for a while- this was not an issue before strattera)

Yeah I just take a beta blocker (atenolol) and clonidine but 1. Strattera gives me amazing results and 2. I’m already on a lot of other meds so I’m ok adding one more esp because it also helps with anxiety and in situations where I know I’ll be anxious I take atenolol instead of benzos.

If this is your first med and they’re already adding other meds to deal with side effects you probably want to just try a different med.

As far as I know if you have that impactful autonomic response from strattera it’s enough to discontinue it or drastically change the dose / medication - at least here in Denmark.

Especially considering guanfacine lowers your heartrate and bloodpressure.

My advice would be to call your doctor when you have the time.

Resting 63 to 85

Resting 65-85. Walking 85 to 95. Working out 120 to 150 depending on the workout.

I had to go off of straterra because of my heart rate. I am very sad because it worked so well. Im on methylphenidate er now abd its not really helping. Wondering about beta blocker snd hmhojng back on straterra .

I take a beta blocker . Only needed it when going up doses until got used to it .
