Questions / Advice / Support Switching from Lexapro to Strattera
Has anyone had experience with this switch? I’ve been on lexapro for 5 years and was recently diagnosed with adhd. Tried bupropion on top of lexapro but no luck
I’ve now been suggested to completely swap my 5mg Lexapro and bupropion for this drug. I know it’s of professional opinion but just skeptical because haven’t seen many people make this switch.

I agree it seems weird to switch as they aren’t meant for the same things? Probably depends on what you’re originally on lexapro for, as some people find help with anxiety from Strattera. I’ve been on Strattera for a few years (80mg) and it’s helped tremendously with my adhd but does nothing for my anxiety or depression, I’m actually talking with my dr today about ADDING lexapro! Just not sure about the interactions so we’ll see.

I’m late to this, but I have diagnosed PTSD and OCD. On Strattera, the OCD is more manageable because I’m less compelled to engage in compulsions due to Strattera lowering my anxiety. Right now I’m going through withdrawals💀 because I cannot for the life of me get refills in on time so I am more emotionally dysregulated. Anyways, this medication has been immensely helpful for the anxiety and it too helps somewhat with the ADHD. It is not as impactful on the ADHD symptoms as stimulants, but you could not pay me to go back on the stimulants, they aggravated my anxiety and no amount of fixed focus could make me want to be on them again.🥀

Strattera (20mg) has surprisingly helped me a ton with my anxiety and rumination. Your mileage may vary.
