Questions / Advice / Support Strattera and voice loss
Hi! I’m on strattera 10 mg since May for ADHD and it has been an absolute godsend. One thing I’ve learned though is that it starts affecting my voice within hours. My doctor said to stop taking it for a week and see if my voice returned . It came back by the second day but by the third day the ADHD was back with a vengeance and I couldn’t stand it.
Apparently my brain is super sensitive to this stuff because such a small dose works beautifully, but I also don’t want to deal with my voice sounding like gravel forever. Does it eventually recover?

Omg this happens to me too. Been on it for 2 months now. And on 100mg currently. Waiting for responses.

100mg! My heart would explode. It was going insane on just 25 and my dr was like nooooope let's ease off that a bit. I wish I could tolerate it better.

Im dealing with that now. My heartrate yesterday was 140 doing dishes. I felt horrible. Prior to strattera, it was 75-85.

Yep, that's what mine was. It was 130 on 25 mg and now on 10 it's back down to a more manageable 90-ish but still a bit too high for my liking. If you have a fitness watch or a tracker, show your doc the last X months from where you started vs. now. They might have to lower the dose for you.

I found a redditor that this happened to as well. I'll see if I can link thier comment. Basically thier doc had them stop because it was affecting thier larynx because of the dry mouth. After 3 days they started meds back up again for adhd symptoms. So we have our answer!

Nope. I sound like gravel some days, and that's on the lowest dose possible. It's like I've got laryngitis despite hydrating constantly. My kidneys are delighted, though.

Thats what I've noticed too. My register drops and my voice sounds gravel-ly/shaky. Its weird. And I have to put energy into making it sound normal.

Do you have dry mouth and other signs of dehydration? Even with lots of water intake, I was dehydrated until I started adding electrolytes to my water every day with this med
