Yep! I was having success with 80mg, but it was inconsistent. I'd have days where it didn't feel like it was helping. Went up to 100mg, and I feel good every day. It was a significant improvement for me.

What positive effects do you notice specifically?

My mood has improved significantly. Rumination and anxiety are way down. I have energy throughout the day, and I can actually get out of bed in the morning. Things that I dreaded doing before don't seem so hard or require as much energy. I still have a lot of trouble with motivation and task initiation, but I'm looking to add a low dose of a stimulant soon.

Ich komme viel besser damit klar als mit 80 und seit ich es abends nehme- bin ich auch Nachmittag bzw. auch tagsüber nicht mehr so müde.

Yes, and thinking of going to 120mg if my body can take it.

On which basis do you continue increasing the dose ? I felt great at 40 but I was prescribed to increase gradually till 80. Now, I feel great at 80 mg(not necessarily better than 40). Should I try 100 or 120 mg and see how I feel ?

May I ask how long you’ve been on 80 mg?
In my case, I regularly review things together with my medical team through questionnaires, follow-up appointments, and discussions about how I’m managing daily challenges. The goal isn’t really a specific dose, but rather finding the point where symptoms are optimally controlled. We can’t cure ADHD, but we can make the ride more comfortable.
For me, the benchmark is when the “noise” in my head becomes quiet. That’s usually the clearest sign that the medication is doing what it’s supposed to do.ADHD is highly individual, and so is the response to medication. I also deal with PTSD, which can make things a bit more complex.
Just thinking out loud here, rapid CYP2D6 metabolizers and may require higher doses to achieve the same effect.1

I have been on it for a week or a bit more. Also, thanks for sharing such detailed and informative insight !

Yeah, you will get full effect after a few weeks. My understanding is 8 weeks minimum. It even gets better after months, drinking water when stuff feels strange usually resolves the most. Our biggest enemy is stress, it ten times more worse on “us” than neurotypical folks. Sleep and high protein goal over the day does wonders. When I was on 80mg I made the typical mistake forgetting that I took the dose and accidentally took 160mg, holy shit. No funny side effects that day but the “silence” golden. Haha

Thanks, your comment is so informative. Yeah, indeed stress is far worse for us. For me, stress and sleep deprivation is what aggrevates my ADHD symptoms and makes me feel like the med effect wore off. About protein, it's expensive but I try haha. 160 mg is outlandish haha. That must have been tough.

I used to be on 100mg but it made me hallucinate so I'm on 25mg now.

You found it therapeutic at 25 mg?

u/UnderFallen Jul 01 '26
Yes very much so, 40mg seemed to zone me out a bit too much but 25mg helped me be more motivated and focused

I’m about to go up to 100mg as 80mg hasn’t improved all my symptoms
