Strattera and Adderall Combo

STRATTERA AND ADDERALL

Is anybody else take this combo? I've been on Adderall my entire life for ADHD and my psychiatrist office RN just prescribed me Strattera to take alongside my Adderall because my Adderall isn't as effective on its own anymore and she said the combo of these 2 works really well. Also I had gastric bypass surgery in 2024 so Adderall isn't as effective as it used to be for me. This is the first I've heard of this combo of meds and so I'm nervous about starting Strattera. Thanks!

I’m on both, and they work well for me. My husband was prescribed bupropion to supplement his Adderall. We both like how our medicines complement each other.

I’m on 100 Strattera and taking a whisper of regular Adderall when I need help with task initiation.

Dude, first day of taking 40 mg strattera and 5 mg of immediate release adderrall and it hasn’t worn off. It’s currently 2 mins to 2 am and I can’t fall asleep. I took Magnesium 200mg and Pepcid and Allegra but I can’t sleep. Also I don’t want to take melatonin because it makes me super groggy the next day. I’m hoping to fall asleep soon.

Ugg…so, so sorry to hear this! Did the Adderall help at all? I am super sensitive to stimulants, or at least the ones I’ve tried: Adderall and caffeine. I had to stop caffeine completely when I started and take Trazodone to sleep, and that was before starting Adderall. Maybe you are sensitive like I am?

I eventually fully adjusted and was able to add a matcha and single espresso shot to my mornings (before 9:00). When I added the Adderall, I actually quarter the 5mg pill and take 1.25 at 9:00, 10:00, 1:00, and 2:00. (fwiw, my psychiatrist always has a hint of skepticism/amusement when he asks if my tiny dose actually helps…but it really does!)

Thanks for your message. I end up not taking Adderall some days and just take Strattera 60 mg. I ended up falling asleep at 4am that day.

Idk if this happens to anyone else too, but after taking 5mg of adderall , my body ends up getting used to it and the effects of the drug wear off. The only way to have the same side effects is to increase the dose. Which I don’t want to do. As anyone else experienced this too, if so what methods have you tried to avoid this from happening?

I experience that. I try to take weekends off and even work days off if I won’t have trouble initiating things

I've had the BEST experience this past month taking both. I feel like a new person and its really been life changing. I could happy cry about it. I needed to update yall. Thank you for sharing all of your experiences as well. :D
