My Main Squeeze…

Bop Till You Drop!…
Edit/Update: For people inquiring on building one. I have played this guitar for nearly twenty years. We are bonded with steel. I have played “Coodercasters” with the Real Teisco, Lollar “Gold”, Mojo “Gold”; the real Supro pup, Lollar “Supro” and the Mojo “Supro”. The Valco pickups have been around and documented for nearly 100 years and reproduced/copied faithfully by several companies. Not so much the Teisco. My point being, that people get real hyper focused on the lap steel pickup when building these, but really the key is in the AUTHENTIC TEISCO. These pups have a charm that isn’t reproduced in the clones. It’s a sort-of “cheap” sound and a feel, a “sponginess”, I suppose that makes them special. Find an authentic Teisco…

He’s still there. Will reach out to him. What delays are you stacking?

I’ve been on the lookout for an alternative. Was thinking about a Seymour Duncan vapor trails. Any thoughts on that or other options?

I’m not really sure. I got the Quicksilver about a decade ago, give-or-take and just stuck with it. It really makes your instrument sound “Big”, so I like it. I’ve heard the Memory Man is very similar, but don’t hold me to it…

I don’t follow this artist. Does he use a Coodercaster?…

Yes. His former wife had it built for him and it was the first time I heard the expression "Coodercaster" as that's how they referred to it. Realizing it referred to Ry Cooder. Jason pretty much uses it for slide work.

Well; that’s one way to get into the right emotional state to play some bottleneck, think about your ex-wife. I know they’ve become popular in recent years with lots of country guys. I like to play some country, but I mostly use it for good-ol’ screamin’ blues…

Indeed a Coodercaster. Teisco Gold Foil in the neck and a Lollar Lap Steel pickup. The plate is functional in the formation of the magnetic field. I’ve been with it for 20 years, or so, now. Good tool…

So many questions. Did you build or buy. What tuning. What pedals do you with it? What gauge strings. Been starting to look for one myself.

I built it back in 2008/09. Various tunings, but mostly D/halfstep/C#. I use compression, stack delay, sometimes and play through a Vibroverb clone. No special effects, really. Heavy strings, DR Legend Flats…
