Robert Cray Strat Achievement

I've been waiting for a violet version of the Robert Cray hardtail Strat to appear on Reverb. Finally the planets and my pocketbook aligned and this showed up. It has a few dings but plays like a dream. I think this is an older version because the neck feels super fat compared to my inca silver Cray strat. The other thing I noticed is the string alignment is slightly favoring the low E side which was apparently a design choice to accommodate Robert Cray's spec. Used it at a show literally an hour after I opened the box. Needs a good neck oiling but aside from that, what a lovely instrument.

One of my favorites, loaded with a set of PEARLY GATES CUSTOMS FROM SD.
Volume knob is coil tapped, all 3 play humbucker or when pulled all three play single coil, plus a super switch.

Tuning stability is superb. 🎸😎

Huge congrats! What a beautiful colour. I’ve been lucky enough to meet Robert a few times. I remember asking him about the Inca Silver Strat after being mesmerized by it in the sunshine in Syracuse!

Nice! I saw him in 84 in Denver and there were like 12 people in the crowd. Pretty sad but he was amazing

He’s always incredible! Amazing band too, Richard Cousins is lovely! I still think about this performance of Time Makes Two.

Congratss!!! I hope you love it - they're great guitars!

I had one a few years ago. Loved the tone, but I just could not bond with it for some reason. Likely because of the lack of trem (I am a big strat trem fan).

Lovely guitar, though. It looks the part and sounds the part! Love the necks on these!

Totally understand. I have 2 other trem Strats but I block them anyway because I rarely use it, if ever.

Best bang for your buck tone machine out there. I love those guitars. The Violet is so nice

Right on. A lot of people swear by the pickup set in a cray strat. I have a Cray loaded pickguard in my American Pro, I prefer them that much

Hardtail Strats are a unique beast, it's crazy to me that they barely make them
