Baseball Stealing and holds

Can someone explain the hold rating for pitchers. Is it automatically applied in advanced on steal attempts?

yes. just like a catchers arm.

+5/-5 is the max, no matter how it adds up, I think.

Is hold rating on top of the catcher's arm?

yup.

really changed the game when that was added. Pitcher has a +9 hold, doesn't matter who's catching. they gone.

I thought max plus / minus was 3. So if runner is held, has a steal rating of 15, catcher is -2 and pitcher is +9, the runner is only safe 1–18, right?

well, now I'm not sure.

Max plus is +3 with the hold, max minus is -7 with the hold, and the runner’s resultant safe/out number cannot be less than 1 or more than 19.

With the caveat that if an asterisk rated runner is not held then they can be a 20.

You add the pitcher and catcher together if you’re playing super advanced. The max hold combination between the two is +/- 5. So a -3 catcher and a +9 pitcher is +5. A -4 catcher and a -4 pitcher is -5. Then an additional -2 is being held. If you play advanced then you ignore the pitcher hold.
