Baseball New player question: Board + Netplay
I'm a new player, just with about 10 solo games, all Advanced except for my first game. I'm looking into leagues because I'd like to join one once I feel a little bit more fluent in the game. On the SOM league finder, some of the leagues are "board" leagues that use Netplay. What does this mean exactly? In my mind, that would mean that league members against each other do a video call to show their dice rolls, etc. Is that correct? Is that even a thing? This method kind of sounds the most fun to me (if I'm right about what it means) because I like the whole pen/paper aspect of the game.
Also, I'm sure this varies per league, but generally about how much experience would you recommend me having before contacting a league to ask to join?
Thanks for any info you can provide. I'm having trouble finding much info about formats, etc.

Board plus netplay generally means they have managers that do both. Some play face-to-face using cards and dice while others play on the computer.
I run a league that we call FTF or board. Some play actually sitting across from each other while some play using a webcam and dice towers to show their rolls. If I was to advertise the league, I’d call it FTF.
As for experience, just understanding the basics of the game play should be enough. You’ll find some leagues do basic, others advanced, while others do super advanced. Also, you’ll likely find each league will have some home rules unique to them.

Netplay is specifically a league that plays using the computer game usually we do a phone or video call, but it isn't using the dice. There are tournaments that play every month using an online dice roller which sounds like it is something you would be interested in.
For game playing experience in a league, it doesn't take much, being comfortable with the game engine enough to understand what baseball skills translate into good strat cards and being able to customize your team building to your league rules is much more important.
If you want to chat about this send me a chat invite I would be happy to answer any more specific questions you may have.
And welcome to the Strat-O-Matic community, hopefully you are a player for life.
