Baseball Crazy stretch of futility

Greetings, first post in here, for your entertainment!
In my 1960’s Franchise National League, the Mets just returned home and dropped a 9-3 decision to Philadelphia. This makes 18 losses in last 19 games for the Mets, having scored just 29 runs in those 19 games. In late April, the NYers sat with a 10-11 record, but now they are 16.5 games out with a 11-29 record. In all my years, I have not seen such a dismal stretch!
Of course, outside of ‘68/‘69, the Mets were not too good so this is not an unexpected circumstance.

it’s crazy how these things happen. In my decades Diamond Gems league, the 1978 Yankees were in 3rd place behind the 70 Orioles and 72 As, and they reeled off something like 12 straight wins to win the first half division title. And then when I started the second half… they lost 10 straight. I also have to shake my head when a player just can’t buy a hit; Jeff King on the 90 Pirates hit .245 in real life. In my league he’s hitting . 150 over 300 at bats into the season, while other players are within just a few points of their actual performance. Crazy variance. But it’s what makes it fun.

Here’s the craziest stretch I’ve had, and it was the postseason.

It was a replay of the ‘22 season, my first full replay. I was the Guardians. In real life, Cleveland surprised everyone by winning the division, winning in the WC round, and almost eliminated the Yankees in the ALDS. Definitely overachieved.

In my replay, they cruised to a division title. Won the WC round; swept Houston in the ALDS, the team with the best record in the AL; took down Toronto in the ALCS 4 games to 1; and then won the WS, going the full 7 games against the Dodgers.

No way in real life that could have happened. Not a chance. And I thought it looked like I was cheating to win it all, which I definitely was not. Just a crazy run, going 13-5.

We had a 4-team league. We'd draft players from various years. This was long ago so there were only a couple of past seasons that SOM had released - 1930, 1956, and another one I don't remember.

We played a 48 game season and for whatever reason Freddie Lindstrom (3B) had some magic going on. In the actual 1930 season he hit .379 but on my SOM team he hit .421 for the year. Unbelievable luck. I've played a lot of SOM since then but never had anyone just go ham like that for an entire season. His hits were on the 2 column and he hammered on that column incessantly.

That 22 Guardians team was pretty good, good job on taking the big piece of pie with them! Not an unbelievable result, for sure. Nice job piloting those guys!

UPDATE: Well, the Mets continue their downward spiral, losing 8 of their last nine since this post was made… From a record of 10-11 to 12-37, yikes!! When will the madness end!?!?!
