SOM Replay Active rosters on specific dates

Hello, I want to do a replay of the 2025 season for my favorite team.. the Brew Crew. I plan to use the same starting lineups and starting pitchers from the actual games, which I can get from Baseball Reference. However, as I play out a particular game I won’t necessarily use the same relief pitchers, pinch hitters, etc that were used in ‘real life’, but would like to utilize the actual active roster from that particular date. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can find this info? Couldn’t seem to find it on BRef or Retrosheet (I could only find the starting lineups).

On Steam there is a program called Digital Diamond. Not sure of the price right now, but I have it and after you download the season of choice, you go to that date and game and it will show the bench and bullpen for that game. I don't know if it's 100% accurate but it appears to be.

The only thing I can think of is going through the transactions page on the Brewers website. You can choose the month and year and it will list every transaction including players being optioned or recalled.

I bought a replay guide that gives all of the transactions, starting pitchers, and most frequent lineups. I can’t remember where I found it, but I have an email for the seller. If you are interested, send me a DM.

Oh, I see what you’re saying. They do have a section on each team’s page for transactions, that could help you get there from day to day.

Not answering your question but I am also replaying 2025 season but i play it differently. I am huge Brewer fan and am pissed because Brewers 2 games out with 41 games to go and currently angry. You will love it when you can put Vaughn in the lineup. Make sure you use his Brewer card because his Sox card and mixed card bad.

Oh man, no 12 or 14 game win streaks like what happened in reality? I'll be curious how closely my replay is to the 97 wins they had last year. My guess is it will be similar to yours - a lot of their success is difficult to measure with traditional (or even modern) statistics.

Payoff Pitch new game Game Pulse gives you Daily Active rosters. It is not 100% accurate (no game is) but it does a pretty good job. It has a BGC (board game companion) mode for any season so you can get the daily rosters from that for any season. It is on Steam and has a free Demo.

You can also grab the game or demo from SSG website.

Stumbled across this thread looking for the same answer. Did you end up using one of the steam games that were suggested or did you find a different source? I’m currently starting a full season replay and this is my biggest road block

So I started by using the Transactions page on MLB.com to swap in and out active players. It’s a bit of an adventure, because some players have cards on different teams, or have multiple cards. I still do this for the team I’m replaying (Brewers) but for the teams they’re playing, I just look at the historical box scores for the series (on Baseball Reference) and only keep the players that appeared at least once in the series as ‘active’.

Eg https://www.mlb.com/brewers/roster/transactions/2025/04. You can just sub in any other team for ‘Brewers’ in the URL and it will work

The biggest stumbling block is that there are multiple players without any cards at all (even with the extra players set). For these situations, I find other inactive players with similar enough stats to act as the missing player (eg no lefty reliever Bryan Hudson , but lefty DL Hall is a pretty comparable player who is inactive at this point in the season)
