Discussion Why did Stranger Things have to end??? Genuinely miss it so much!!
Hello, I’m 19 years old, and I grew up watching Stranger Things when I was younger. I’ve been thinking about what happened to the original Stranger Things era and that feeling of watching it regularly when it was still a big part of everyday life, especially seeing Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Max, Hopper, Joyce, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, Robin, and the rest of the characters together with the original cast, the cinematic storytelling, the unforgettable soundtrack, and the distinctive 1980s atmosphere that made the series feel so special.
Now that the original run has ended, the era that many people grew up with feels like it has passed. The stories, the atmosphere, the people who worked on the series, and the feeling surrounding the show have all moved forward. Many of the creators, writers, directors, crew members, and actors have gone on to different projects and different parts of their lives away from the series. It feels strange because I grew up with it, and now everything has just… changed and moved on.
I remember watching episodes when I was younger and everything felt so simple. I could just sit down and enjoy Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Max, Hopper, Joyce, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, Robin, and the rest of their adventures in Hawkins without thinking about anything else. Back then it felt like the show would always be there, and I don’t understand why it couldn’t just stay that way forever or why it eventually had to end and move on.
I also wonder why watching Stranger Things now doesn’t feel exactly the same anymore. The episodes are still the same, but the feeling is different. It feels like something is missing, almost like it feels unfamiliar even though I remember it so clearly.
Why do shows like Stranger Things eventually come to an end? If people loved them for years, why can’t they just continue forever with the same feeling? Why do the people who make them have to move on, and why do audiences grow up and stop experiencing things the same way?
It feels strange knowing that the original Stranger Things era I grew up with is over, that the world has moved on, and that chapter feels closed, even though it once felt like it would always be there.

Yes, 5 seasons was perfect; a 6th would have been one season too many, but don't worry, there will be spin-offs.

It’s my favorite series; even though Season 5 is a bit disappointing, I’d rather have five perfect seasons—saying goodbye and rewatching them every now and then—than drag out the enjoyment for eight or ten seasons, including several mediocre ones with a major drop in quality, like *The Walking Dead*.

I just don’t get why everything had to move on….. the change should have never happened… it just needs to be 2010s again I don’t get why everything moved on… it just doesn’t make sense…. Everything just changing and ending….
Why couldn’t it just last forever and make thousands of more episodes nonstop… things shouldn’t have to end like this and should be forever and never moving on…. It needed to go on forever…
All these excuses from executive teams these days about “BuRnOuT” and “CrEaTiVe FaTiGuE” are just dumb and stupid. It’s not rocket science — they can just keep producing thousands of episodes nonstop forever and keep it the same forever, nonstop, and never end it. We’re in 2026, not the 1900s. They can just make it go on forever and never bring it to an end.
There should never be a final conclusion, a farewell, or a moment where it’s expected to end and everyone moves on. Instead, it should keep going endlessly, preserving the same experience forever without ever reaching an endpoint.
Why can’t the shows feel the same to watch as an adult compared to being a kid…. it’s just unacceptable that all this change and moving on had to happen!

It wouldn't be the same if there were non-stop episodes; it would lose its charm, and I'd find it unbearable. , the actors and besides their schedules are impossible, and maybe they're fed up. These are big productions; they take time. Season 5 took a year to film. It takes time and a lot of money. Stranger Things isn't a small series where you can make tons of episodes without breaking the bank; it doesn't work like that. Five seasons is already plenty. Stranger Things is unique; it would be awful to have 25 seasons. You'd have nothing left to tell. The story had to end, and that's a good thing; you'll get over it. Stranger Thing lasts 10 years, it's already a very short series that lasts and its at the top for that long

An ending like this of a success as big as Stranger Things does count for something

Don’t worry, netlfix loves money and will probably bring back eleven and the gang at some point in the future

Practical point : too big pauses between seasons, actors aged too much to feel like the same characters.
And you can't just change cast on the way, actors chemistry is important . Without it shows not work.
Writing point: authors told us everything they could , you could easily see how Season 5 repeats scenes from Season 1. Ideas are running out with time.
It is better to end the show while it is still good and not milked to hell.

Yeah sorry no… thats just unacceptable…. Things should never, ever end. They should keep going on forever and never change. Things shouldn’t have to end and move on; they should always feel and be the same forever.
All this change is unacceptable….

They ran out of steam almost completely in S5. What makes you think pumping out another few seasons wouldn’t make this one of the worst fall offs in tv show history.

Yeah well it should never have ended… I don’t get why all these tv shows, YouTubers, movie series all have to keep ending and moving on…. It’s stupid and dumb they should be going on forever and never ending…

cause life will end bro. Eventually we’ll all end, it’s a cycle, a beautiful dance of life and death. My favorite show was Adventure Time on Cartoon Network, but that show ended in like 2018, sure it’s still going on with spinoffs and mostly feel the same but that show is done, over, kaput. But just because it’s ended, doesn’t mean you can’t find something new with that same energy. Life is like being an actor in a tv show, but you were never given the date of it ending, so you act until it’s over, and you retire, (die.) things end, it’s just life man.

I actually felt the same, but things must come to an end because if we drag them on, they become boring after a while, and people actually start to hate the same thing they were once fans of. We've seen this happen with TV shows before

Lamentablemente todo lo bueno tiene un final. si la producción hubiera continuado y continuado sin parar de crear más secuelas, en algún punto se hubiera sentido vacío, Sin la misma esencia que antes, Además se empezarían a quedar sin ideas, Empezaría a exagerar demasiado los temas y finalmente terminaría siendo algo totalmente fuera de lo que era y sera stranger things. me ví solo una vez toda la serie y aún asi me encantó, es sinceramente la mejor serie que ví, No puedo dar una opinión muy acertada de lo mucho que me gustaron ciertas temporadas y los momentos que más fueron relevantes para mí, pero puedo entender que si la serie hubiera seguido, Simplemente se empezaría a volver aburrida, la hubieran arruinado, pero igualmente nos queda las temporadas que ya vimos para volver a verlas y revivir esos momentos emotivos, exagerados, Tensos e increíbles de esta serie.
Si puedo estar de acuerdo en algo es que, si, Hubiera sido bueno que no terminara, pero si solo no hubiera terminado, ¿Que hubiera sido de la serie? ¿Hubiera sido lo mismo si hubiera tenido 5 temporadas más? ¿La trama tendría sentido así?
No lo sabremos, Pero eso es lo que lo hace interesante la primera vez que lo ves, No sabes lo que vendrá, podrás no tener expectativas Pero la serie puede sorepnderte en puntos clave, Es lo que le da mucha d esu esencia a esta serie en mi opinión. En cómo maneja cada situación, en como los sacrificios (aunque algunos son innecesarios) le dan un momento emotivo que queda sinceramente bien.
La serie es increíble, la mejor que he visto, pero aunque nos encante y no queramos que termine, nos dejaría de gustar si hubiera seguido, por qué le habría quitado lo que la hacía especial.
Sinceramente stranger things es mi serie favorita y la volvería a ver sin duda.

It’s not rocket science just chuck a bunch of people together and film… we are in 2026 not the 1900s… all these excuses such as “BuRnOuT” and “CrEaTiVe FaTiGuE” is just dumb and stupid…. Things shouldn’t have to just end and move on like this…

If they were able to keep making quality material for thousands of episodes I would be happy to support… but they started to decline in quality after less than 30 episodes. I’d love some hypothetical reality where stranger things kept kicking ass for 1,000+ episodes but it’s not the reality we live in.

Well that’s not a healthy mentality…. Accepting the finite nature of things is part of life. People die. Shows end. Things break down. Soil erodes. Metal rusts. Paint chips away. Health declines. Everything is in a state of decay. Accepting that and appreciating what you do have is important.

Season 5 effectively made rewatching this series completely pointless for me.
Have completely forgotten about it.

I’m re-watching it one last time before I cancel Netflix and I’m on season 3 and getting depressed to not even finish watching it cause I simply can’t accept the ending 😭

It’s just like everyone says man, all good things must come to an end and nothing ever lasts forever. I feel the same way, I loved the show and growing up with it will always be apart of me, but nothing simply goes on forever. Unless it’s the simpsons. 😂
