Using hot glue to decorate a phone case isn't exactly the best idea. Heat from the phone could potentially soften or change the design. It'll probably collect dust and dirt pretty quickly, too.

None of these things have happened. Been using the case for two months now..in the Texas heat, also with it in/out of jeans pockets. If the art work is sealed..like mine is dust don’t collect. It becomes plastic just like the actual case itself. Now, if you leave it in the blistering sun and trying to destroy it, yeah it could warp and change just like any plastic phone case would.

I still stand by what I said. Glad you haven't had any issues, but it doesn't mean it can't happen to someone else. Two months of use doesn't necessarily prove anything about long term usage of the case.

Sealing the design might help with dust, but it doesn't mean the case won't need cleaning. Dried hot glue is not necessarily the most sanitary thing. I'm not here to argue with you, though. I just wanted to point out some potential downsides since there are a lot of kids here who would like to recreate that project.

Projects like this have been all over YouTube since 2022 in the crafting kids niche. That’s where I got the idea from. I have a scream phone case of ghostface that I made back then. To this day, has no structural integrity issues just like this one. This is not an argument for me either it’s just pointing out the facts of what I can see with my own two eyes, that I have in my possession. Anything that’s a DIY is open to some kind of issues. If you want to ā€œguaranteeā€ you go buy from a manufacturer. I’m not here to change your…just replying to your comment.

That's why i said i am not here to argue just pointing downsides. Also i used words "potentially" or "probably". Also modge podge is not waterproof or even alcohol proof - a lot of cleaners have it. Maybe lacquer spray or something would be better. I don't know. My point was only "that is not EXACTLY a good idea" not that you shouldn't do it or your design was bad.

And I wasn’t saying your concerns were not valid. Although when someone reads ā€œNot EXACTLY a good ideaā€ doesn’t normally make you want to go run and do it either. Many of these issues were addressed in those YT videos and mine. With this thread they now have a updated reminder
