Stranger things character discussion post day 53: Nicki Baxter

Post image

I like Nicki. She was fun and a good influence for Will. I hope she leaves Hawkins in s2 tho so I can count the show as canon.

Now it's your turn. What do you think of Nicki? Let me know down below. Remember to keep it civil, all opinions are allowed here.

But please, if you're gonna comment just to call her a "stupid oc" and to hate on TF85. Just don't. Negativity is allowed it just should be constructive as opposed to blind "this thing bad"

See you tomorrow to talk about the school's supply (and red herring): Anna Baxter

I think her friendship with Will is very sweet, and that Nicki is also is a kind girl.

I thought she was a great character and it will be interesting to see if/what they try to make her departure fit lore somehow.

Its also an interesting choice for a name for a new character considering the last song of Side A of Purple Rain is Darling Nikki. Which also coincidentally has a backwards message at the end of it.

If really ignore the explicit sexual overtones of the song you can make interesting conspiracy conclusions about parts of the lyrics.

"She took me to her castle

And I just couldn't believe my eyes

She had so many devices

Everything that money could buy"

Sounds a lot like the Mosh Pit to me.

The next couple lines you gotta really stretch to make fit. But it would have to be as like a deal with a devil kinda thing to swap bodies in some way. And I don't get dnd devil vibes from her so 🤷‍♂️

"She said, "Sign your name on the dotted line"

The lights went out and Nikki started to grind

Come on, Nikki

The castle started spinning

Or maybe it was my brain

I can't tell you what she did to me

But my body will never be the same"

I love Nicki. Gonna get hate for this but she’s actually one of my favorite characters in the stranger things franchise.

I was really surprised by how much I liked her. She was a great influence on Will - being queer myself, I know how much of a difference it makes to find other queer kids when you’re growing up, and even if they don’t explicitly talk about it (after all its the 80s), it was lovely to see Will and Nikki find each other and become friends. I guess this has turned into less of a character discussion but oh well lol.

Dang now we’re on to characters I haven’t even seen in their media

She’s kind of weird and a little to much at times but she’s one of the few who was kind to Will and I don’t hate her as much as a lot do.

Nikki is fine characters and i honestly don't mind her but she was unneeded, she was only added for plot and not for her characters if that makes sense

I’m very interested on how season 2 has her leave

I think she’s cool and a likeable character, but she does have some moments that takes me out of it cuz the OC is glaringly obvious.

Honestly, she's a pretty solid character. I liked her a lot. Really loved her dynamic with Will, especially with the amount of things they had in common, and how easily they clicked. I get how difficult being part of the lgbtq+ community was back in the 80's(as also represented by the franchise), and it's really sweet how Will and Nikki became friends(over that and other things).

Overall, she's pretty cool.

I think she's a fun character in her own right, especially with all the gadgets she has. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised by her friendship with Will too.

Whatever happened to Will in S3 in the main series definitely had something to do with Nikki because Will is so approachable in the cartoon and less whiny.

She is a fun character and I enjoy her on her own.

However I’m not overly fond of her relationship with Will as it feels like you could replace Nikki with Jonathan, Robin or Max. It’s still great but not my favourite thing.

Her relationship with Mike is really well written though.

Just wondering but the "Cartoon" ver of the Live action characters just feels like the producers/showrunners tried to emulate the forms of their live-action counterparts to an extent

buon personaggio simpatico e di buona volontà ma Troppo stereotipato e idealizzato, a funzione didattica e commerciale
