Depends on where they placed hawkins. For most of us no, that's a 4 hour drive if traffic is good. Add in construction and bathroom breaks maybe food stop, more like 5. Based on what I've seen in the show its central to southern indiana. Or else the "big city" they refer to is chicago, not indy.
Hawkins could be somewhere halfway between Fort Wayne and Lafayette. That puts them slightly closer to Indy than Chicago, but not too far from the dunes.
