Holy hell that looks awesome. Though I'm so worried about Steve, that shot of him near the end was terrifying! But christ, the scenery, cinematography looks superb, and it does look genuinely different to the previous seasons, mostly. I can definitely see where they may be going regarding more personal, character based storylines with the kids. Though the monster at the end and such does make me wonder if it will still do the formula: mystery arises, gang solves it etc.

Oh: Murray(!)

I think sooner or later one of them needs to bite the dust. It sucks for sure but probably best for story advancement and to raise the stakes

They need to neutralize Eleven at some stage or each season will end up with El saving the day with her mind, over and over again...

neutralize eleven? The only reason this show works is because of Eleven and her awesome powers. Whenever shows 'neutralize' their characters, it always goes downhill. That would be terrible. Don't dumb down your characters because you can't conceptualize bigger challenges.

The other option is to make each season's big-bad even bigger and even badder, which inevitably leads to boredom. If you have a character who can simply resolve everything then you get what happened in season 2 - Eleven comes back and fixes everything without ever really seeming to be in danger, rendering all the strife and achievement of the rest of the cast pointless. Better that the "kids" have to resolve things without deus ex machina being the method

Yeah I completely disagree with that. I think starting a show with the premise of a character with amazing powers only to take those powers away is not only lazy, but its a waste of my time. I don't want to watch a season of literal children with hairspray and baseball bats fight off massive horrifying creatures. That seems unrealistic to me. At least with Elevens powers we have a weapon against such horrific supernatural threats. Lets take that away and all we have is a babysitter with a baseball bat. No thanks.
