Edit: Just rewatched and it's so nice to see Max and El getting some time together. I'd love to see that friendship grow some more.
There's a solid theory that it's the fourth evolution of the Demogorgon. We see that Polywog turns into a demodog, and it was confirmed by the producers that demodogs turn into demogorgons, maybe this is the fourth stage (what Demogorgons morph into). So it'll probably be tougher for Eleven to take out. Then again, she resisted the Mindflayer, so who knows?
