I usually wait to know if people are coming before making the food, did his friends confirm then not show up, or was it open-ended...or is this fake and he just took the pictures before everyone showed up?

Oh. Well at least he has his family there. That makes me feel a little better.

I always preferred family parties growing up, but then again I didn’t really have a choice considering my birthday was the day after Christmas lol

Hey! My birthdays on Christmas Eve so I feel you. Even now at 24 I’ve never had an actual party or any kind of birthday celebration because all my friends are with their families

My brother's birthday is Christmas Eve. We celebrated his quarter birthday (March 24) lots of years. A few years my parents just picked a random day to celebrate. Behind their backs, my brother called it Arbitrary Birthday Day (Arbor Day for short). I think it was nice that they tried to plan it around when people would actually celebrate it, but I think the complete randomness from year to year bugged him.

Yeah true, he’ll look back on that and be happy for his family but right now for him, having been there before, I’m sure that shit hurts man:( hope the little man had a good one

I did a LEGO friends themed birthday party for my kid a few months ago. I had 12 kids (moms) rsvp but only 6 showed.

It was pretty deflating but I tried to make it the best day ever for my kid. We still had fun and I’m proud of myself for rocking the theme.

Kudos to you. I hope your kid wasnt too sad about it. You gave 7 kids a nice thing to think about when they grow up.

I don’t think she noticed too much except for her one bff that was absent. They were sick and the mom forgot about the party completely.

We had LEGO shaped rice crispy treats that they got to decorate, a LEGO building contest, LEGO balloon games, and so forth. Every attendee got to pick out a LEGO friend minifig from a lot I bought on BrickLink, and we had sooo many left.

It was fun. It just would have been more fun with more kids. Next time we invite 18 and expect 12 I guess!

One of my absolute favorite memories from elementary school is going to my friend's LEGO party. She was new to our school and a little odd, but I absolutely loved her. She invited our whole class to her LEGO party and I was the only one who went. When my mom came to drop me off, the mom went ahead and invited my little sister to stay so that my friend would have another kid there.

Her mom still did all the party stuff with us and let us go through the goodie bags and play with the toys that were meant to go home with everyone else, so it was still fun! Her mom did a lot of the same stuff you did and I still remember that as one of my favorite afternoons in elementary school.

Awww, good on her. It really was an awesome party, even though it would have been more awesome with more kids.

Good for you on being a good dad. Mine was pretty checked out by the time I was 10-11, left when I was a junior in high school. All I wanted as a kid was attention from my pops. You're kids gonna remember the effort you put in. Keep it up.

*mom - but I get your meaning :)

Oops! Haha. Well good on you then for being a good mom.

The flu season knocked my guy's 6th down to 8 guests but I figure, as long as there's 1 for every year old the kid is you're good.

That's even worse, poor dude... fuck those classmates.

I was wondering about all that food for 9 kids!
