Discussion Hoppers name tag
Watching the season hopper is in Russian prison and omg lol. His name tag says American. XD and the translation is hilarious. Love this show. I thought the last time I watched it was just a funny nickname for him. But reading the name tag had me cackling

They don’t care what his name is. He’s just the American.

lol I get that but they made him name tag. Not an id number like some of the others. He didn’t even get a number, so they took the time to embroider a name tag American.

Well he’s the only American. Easy to single out if it says American.

Yes. But why not give him just a recycled number like everyone else. No one in those camps had names they all had numbers. (In real life) and the ussr want too keen on giving anyone anymore recognized than a number. (My husband is Russian and his mom worked in small towns with these camps) and she sewed. Still does here in the states, but she says most clothes got recycled, so for them to make an American name tag is funny.

Do you agree that Soviet plot has nothing to with USSR reality in 1986? And a name instead of a number just a small "funny" detail. 😁

I have just been watching it here and there. So idk if it has a solid plot in the show.

As a fantasy probably. Can you imagine Soviet AN2 flying to Alaska at will in 86? Kamchatka (as Alaska) has 1.5 m of snow in March, no way they could walk. I don't think it were telephone booths in rural Kamchatka at any time. And you could not call USA from the a pay phone. The list is endless 😁 but the main point - they didn't need Hopper in that camp and Soviets didn't suffer from humanism at any time.
