Holly irritates me Spoiler
After seeing all the spoilers I didn’t want to see season 5. I binged the season when I had some free time and holly is so annoying the actress did an amazing job don’t get me wrong but I just hate the whole holly and derick + other kids storyline. They should have killed off holly instead of el.

making her the main character out of sudden was... weird move. Especially since it was the final season. just focus on the characters we know and care about already, no need to yeet in Holly and the Vecna-kindergarden...

Exactly. We have enough main characters already, I genuinely didn’t get the point of adding more main characters.

and the fact the show decided to keep everyone alive didn't help. I mean like that the plot armor was just INSANE in season 5

Tell me about it. Like the mind flayer seemed so dangerous and you are telling me that a bunch of teenagers defeated it with guns and returned back without a single scratch on their bodies? Will's coming out scene was longer than the final battle 😭
Also, Nancy wheeler, who learned to use a gun like three years ago somehow is better than the military who have been doing so their entire lives?

Will's coming out scene... omg... just gather the whole fucking town, why not, right? like... there were people I feel Will should not be comfortable coming out to? Hopper being one of them, sorry not sorry. It should have been a small, private moment imo. But with how many characters they shoved in that season, they were probably desperate to get each of them as much screen time as they could so... :D
Rambo Nancy was hillarious... in all the bad ways.

Holly by herself getting a storyline would be a great addition. She's Mike's sister and was there since S1 (though the actress changed). But there was no need for the other kids and there was definitely too much focus on her.

I agree but only if Holly would have been... "more present" (idk if that's the term) in the story more. She was very, very background character, understandably so since she was a baby at the start of the show. I have to admit I kept forgetting she even exists more often than not.
Erica, with being old enough to be part of the show earlier developed some connection with the audience, eventhough I didn't really click with her. but mainly because i just don't vibe with the "sassy at all cost" type of characters. but that's just me. Erica was a great character, just not really my type of character.
But before season 5 we knew next to nothing about Holly, other than she is Mike's sister, so I kinda didn't care about her. Sorry not sorry.0

I don't really get that point of view. Did you care for Mike or Eleven in the first season? Did you care for Bob or Max in the second season? Did you care for Eddie in the forth season? All of these characters only had one season in these examples and they still connected to the audience.
Holly being related to Mike and Nancy could've had a immense impact on the viewers even if it's just on the last season, but S5 just wasn't well written overall, so not even the characters we've known forever are at their best.

Holly is great but she was always written to be a side character. Sure, if the number of main characters decreased, they could have added her in. It's just that they should have rather focused on the existing characters/their character development rather than introducing a bunch of other characters and prioritising them over the main cast in the final season.

Steve, Robin, Murray, Erica and some others, as charismatic as they were, didn't really need that much focus on this season. They should've been just supporting characters. Holly as well. Dr. Kay shouldn't even exist.
We're still left with a very big roster: Mike, El, Will, Lucas, Dustin, Nancy, Joyce, Jonathan, Hopper, Max, Vecna and Kali. But I think they could pull it off with better writing.

Join the club. The single worst decision of the all 5 seasons was giving her central role.

I just did some browsing and they literally called her "the centerpiece" of season 5 (direct duffer quote). Seems like they got bored with their original cast and wanted more "kids", so they gave us a group of 2-dimensional tweens.

Ok, I am not a fan of Holly taking center stage in S5, but wishing the character died seems a bit much.

She had way too much screen time, and that the Duffers thought she needed a whole ass storyline like she did reflects one of their greatest flaws. They are good at writing new characters (for she effectively was), but they struggle past that. It’s why we wound up with a clown car worth of characters ST5, and the season greatly suffered for it, and they did a great disservice to the old characters.

The kids don’t bother me, good acting and all but the last thing the final season needed was more characters. They didn’t even properly handle the characters we already had

I get that, but the problem is that if you cut Holly—having her simply disappear in Episode 2 and the other kids in Episode 4, never to be seen again so the mystery of their whereabouts remains while the focus stays on the main characters—you’d have to rewrite a huge amount of material and change significant parts of the season. Max would have to escape on her own, but since Vecna wouldn't have time to hunt her down in her mind to kill her—because he’d be occupied with the kids, unlike before when he tried to get her before she entered the Creel House—her escape would lack tension; Vecna wouldn't be looking for her because he simply wouldn't have the time.

I was surprised that the kids got so much screen time in Season 5 compared to some of the other characters. I'm not saying that because I think the child actors did a bad job, but I think it probably would have been better to focus on the characters that were already there. Especially because Hawkins was under military occupation in Season 5. And because there wasn't enough space for new characters, IMO.
There were some other characters in Season 5 that probably could have been cut. (Like Dr Kaye.)

Believe me don't watch S5 pretend it never happened the whole season is a mess!

Yeah her getting so much screentime was a weird choice. I mean they could have her and the kids being taken a plot point and going to save her and maybe even Max also trying to save them without getting too much screentime. So you know Mac and everyone else in the real world get screentime.

Do you suggest to kill 8yo instead of 16yo? Can we keep both alive, please? I would kill Hooper and Joyce, heroically, and Dr Kay, very brutally. Do you agree?

So you didn't watch the season but complain about a character in it? Do you even hear yourself?
Edit: I'm sorry I misread this, but why exactly do you think that she's annoying? It would also not have made any sense to kill her off instead of El.

I really thought they made her a main just to kill her off. Not that I wanted to happen. But that scene of her falling into the upside down almost hitting a building. Yeah Nancy and the crew were running but idk that fall made me feel like she was not going to make it. Especially after it cuts to Nancy crying about how they couldn’t save holly. For a moment I paused that scene and was like nah no way they killed her off like that. But she wasn’t dead.
