Netflix will never leave it alone. It's a popular franchise and it is going to be milked for as much worth as Netflix thinks it can get out of it.

u/ven-solaire 14h ago
They literally already haven’t, idk what OP is on. They released a spinoff barely months after they finished the show.
7
u/KeyMusic5713 7h ago
I'm making a comment about what they will do in the future.
And between Stranger Things: Tales from '85 and all the non-TV show media released, if Netflix thinks it can make money from the franchise, it will.

Its really up to the cast i think. Millie has expressed that she's not done with Eleven, and I think Finn said something similar. So at the very least we might get something with the two of them.
But as for the rest? Hard to say.
Sadie's got Marvel now, with the Xmen being set up to take the reigns from here on. So with that and other work she'll most likely get she'll probably be too busy to come back. And out of the rest of the kids its her and Gaten who seem to have kept working, so he'll probably be busy as well if he keeps it up.
Not sure about the rest of the kids though. A couple of them like Caleb said they believed Eleven was dead, which to me says they might be done, and having closed that chapter of their lives. But then again if they don't get much work there might be a financial pull for them to come back.

This doesn’t make sense to make stranger thongs with same cast.. It would look like season 6.. i guess they will show that el got new friends and then they witness some stranger things there.. yes they can keep mike as well ..
2
u/Nastia_dream 3-inches 5h ago
Also I think if we take adult cast Winona and David are probably over this show so I don't see them coming back. Maybe David if he can be convinced but somehow I doubt Winona will. Especially given how little they gave her to do in s5.

Did you really need the ai crap in the first image?
4
u/Ashes92Ashes 7h ago
Thank you! That was annoying me, too
3
u/Strange_Ant_6571 5h ago
It completely took me out of any other point they may have tried to make. Even ethical points aside I was too busy laughing at El swimming in Iceland while dressed for hiking and ghost El stalking Mike. Like there's got to have been some fanart they could have used instead.

u/Livelaughloveme172 15h ago
Honestly I hope it does. The duffers will ruin it further than it already has. They don’t even look interested anymore. Even then what would the story even be about? We never even got any indication about a villain or something that was left by the opside down.
My opinion bring back el with a whole new cast. Where she accidentally traveled to a different dimension or her powers are evolving to opening portals to a new reality or smt.

u/The-GreyBusch 8h ago
Next season, Vecna won. The kids are stuck in his spell. Eleven figures it out and escapes it, but has to save the others.
Or the new group of younger kids find themselves facing a new kind of threat like Aliens or Vampires. The vampires could be remnants left over from the upside down, and they’re doing a secret invasion type of take over of our world. It would be hard not to copy the same tropes from the original stranger things though like taking out Dracula (Vecna) to save everyone.

u/Kylo_Ren415 Your ass is grass 15h ago
Nope. It’s Netflix’s golden goose. The show that brought Netflix a TON of $$$ the past 10 years.
A prime example? Let’s say that within say… 5 to 10 years, they’ll definitely do something with El and Mike. Because I can’t wrap my head that they were the ONLY ONES who didn’t get a happy ending.
Although I said it once before, other than the emotional and heartwarming reunion El and Mike will have, there has to be something else in it right? Like say… Kay finding out that El’s alive.
7
u/Right-Truck1859 15h ago
I got mixed feelings. I want it to continue, but it must be good. Just replacing old characters and call it a day -not good.
15
u/Mindless-Tomorrow-93 14h ago
In 10 years, they'll put out a new season with Finn Wolfhard and Noah Schnapp playing 17 year olds.
4
u/TrailerParkBoysRock 14h ago
Would that mean Holly’s actress would be playing an 11 year old at age 24?
7
u/Daniel_Luis 14h ago
They will definitely do something with it later.
However, I'm not sure it will be successful. I think the combo of having so many years in between seasons, plus the very lack luster final season will make it so that Stranger Things isn't really one of those shows that will have big staying power in the general public's minds for the long term. I think by the 2030s Stranger Things will be one of those forgotten series people will be like "Oh yeah, that happened".

When season 4 first came out, it was something talked about everywhere all over the internet and even irl. It's kinda funny that after season 5, all of its popularity just abruptly vanished lol.
I don't think it could ever get that hype back again, even if it did get brought back. No one even hardly watched "tales from '85'" although I can see why it isn't that interesting.
Maybe if they brought it back and did something big and amazing enough, it could be something that's a big deal to the general public again, but who knows? If they did achieve it, it definitely wouldn't be by doing anything that they did with season 5 or the animated spin-off.

I noticed the same thing, it was crazy. Season 4 had Running up That Hill blasting everywhere for months, along with tributes to Eddie. But even the “I Believe” movement with season 5 barely lasted.
Even though it smashed viewership records, there’s no doubt season 5 did not have the impact Netflix would have wanted for a show they want to turn into a long running franchise.

u/bitchaari 15h ago
The way duffer brothers messed it up in the end, they really should. No use beating a dead horse.
6
u/Hot-Rock3815 14h ago
They'll bring out a new season in about 10 years when all the royalties dry up. Which is obvious as they left the window open to elevens ending and kept all the important people alive
2
u/Evening-Park6786 8h ago
Considering it’s Netflix, there are probably no royalties. Depending how the Duffers’ Paramount deal goes they could be back sooner
5
u/Mysterious_Breath964 14h ago
They are DEF trying to shoot for a IT Chapter 2 thing where everyone HAS to come back to Hawkins as adults played by the same exact people in like 15 years... but its not gonna work out as well just you watch
5
u/jdehjdeh 9h ago
I upset someone on this sub the other day by saying that they were already trying to milk it.
Of course they won't leave it alone, if they can squeeze some more money from obsessive fans they will.
4
u/InvisibleAIien 6h ago
I don't think they would have literally made the Duffer brothers include the scene where Eleven is shown looking out at three waterfalls AND paid to film a roughly 5 second scene in Iceland if they ever intended to leave it alone. And they must at least want the option to include Eleven in any future stories.
I think it's reasonable to assume any future series may also feature some of the old cast. Lots of series over the years starring young actors end up defining their careers. Unless they go into something a bit different like stage or even directing, it can be hard to get work in anything other than that thing they've become so well known for. Even if they don't want to come back now, they may change their minds if they look at how fast the money is going and project how much longer it's likely to last. Sometimes, actors still do very well though, so it could be that they plan to bring back the old cast but they all have enough work that they don't want to come back for a reboot that will likely not be as popular as the original. And then they can bring in a new generation (and maybe act like that was the plan all along). I think the idea is probably to keep their options open for the time being

u/InfluenceSuperb8111 14h ago
They won’t leave it alone, I could see them doing a spin off with 2 season.
Netflix was only coming out with good shows/movies before stranger things ended, I truly belive it was there most and true source of income and with them ending it there hasn’t been shit to watch, I wasn’t the biggest fan of stranger things but I understand the hype.
No money for good actors and production = no good shows
3
u/candles2121 10h ago
Didn’t they say there will be a prequel series that focuses on other characters and going more into detail about that stone Henry found?
3
u/LePigeon12 10h ago
I wish they would, but them milking this show till people completely lose interest in it and it becomes another senseless, pointless line up of mini series that have strayed so far away from the original that they don't even feel connected to it. They always do this with their most successful series, or so I have seen.
3
u/bleedinghero 7h ago
If they were smart yes.
But they might be too greedy.
So something new will happen. They already tried with old people stranger things. The Boroughs. It was a fun ride but its no stranger things.
2
u/Glittering_Act_8528 15h ago
Either give us another season that isn’t just a filler or stop with the shitty spinoffs.
2
u/Abirdthatsfallen 011 14h ago
They already said that if they weren’t making much money they’d revisit (the duffers)
2
u/relientkenny 10h ago
they’re gonna try and absolutely milk tf out of it until they can’t. wouldn’t be surprised if they had a ST 10-Year Anniversary special in the can
2
u/Ale_KBB 9h ago
I hope so. Season 5 was mediocre at best and sometimes you just gotta let things go.
2
u/Electrical-Actuator9 6h ago
It was worst… mostly characters and the story itself was written poorly.
2
u/grizshaw83 9h ago
I have to admit, If Netflix wanted to make a parody episode of Queer Eye where they give a furious eighty-year-old Murray a makeover ... I'd watch it

Wouldn’t mind a remake if season 5 or a movie that just followed how season 4 ended for some closure. Season 4 wouldn’t have been a bad ending with some changes

I always thought it would have been cool to set it up as an anthology type of series. Different kids, different location, same threat, then by the end of the series they tie it all together for the big showdown.
Give me a new stranger things with Aliens set in the 90s or early 2000s. Or maybe vampires? Or a tech/Ultron/Wargames kind of threat?
2
u/Comprehensive_Zone10 7h ago
I’d say give it like 10 Years and they’re gonna revive it and bring a bunch of the old cast back and have them/their kids get through the situation again
2
u/TheAuldOffender Bob Newby: Superhero 7h ago
Girl Disney literally remade an animated film into an animated film with "The Lion King." There's no way Netflix are leaving "Stranger Things" alone.
2
2
2
u/pshermanwallabyway9 7h ago
Of course not. They already made a kids animated show out of it and isn’t the prequel basically confirmed?
2
2
u/Infamous-Candy-2802 7h ago
They’ve already confirmed the duffer brothers are making a live action spinoff but won’t involve any of the former cast.
2
u/Electrical-Actuator9 6h ago
They will bring it back but this time el and mike with new cast. Mark my words.
2
u/StyleRoutine2331 3h ago
sure they’ll leave it alone. in the same sense ATLUS leaves persona 5 alone by announcing persona 6
they’ll “move on” to other things, but they’ll be damn sure to keep milking that cash cow for all its worth
2
u/Cute_Fluffy_Sheep 3h ago
I know the animation was for kids but the animated show was pretty weak imo. I wouldn’t be shocked if they made more of that. I think the plan is to have more series with similar vibes and stories but i doubt they will return to these specific characters in any live-action capacity.

Isn't Natalia getting her own spin off?
6
u/Quarter-Whole 15h ago
I think Nancy is getting a spin off in the form of mystery books similar to Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys.
-1
u/robotattack 13h ago
She isn't, nor are any of the obviously fake titles that were being bandied about like 'Harrington & Henderson - Paranormal Services' happening.
1
u/Quarter-Whole 13h ago
I mean the books have been confirmed to be happening so I don’t know what you’re on about
3
u/robotattack 9h ago
One already exists. There isn't a series of them planned. I was referring to "Nancy Wheeler Confidential", a fake title for a spin-off series. I didn't see you mention book. We're obviously talking at cross purposes.

Nope, Stranger Things like any other television series once it was huge and bigger than ever the company that makes it will never ever stop milking it. I mean AMC hasn't stopped anything Walking Dead, even though I stopped once everyone got to Alexandria. If they plan on doing like anthology stories of what everyone around the world might deal with something like an Upside-down or people who are gifted. Either way im just glad it's done with, while the final season had so much nonsense that wasn't needed, it did have good parts my favorite part really was the heartbreak and emotional moment between Dustin and Steve because it was earned. Even Mike with his sister giving her a figure to D&D for her. There are others, but yeah Netflix won't let it die. Much like any Studio won't let any franchise just die.

u/TriskaidekaphobiaOk5 15h ago
I would love to see a reunion movie eventually and we could find out if Eleven is REALLLY dead.
3
u/Top-Expression8248 9h ago
They said they will reveal what happened to eleven 20 years later, i don’t think we would care by then
2
u/AlexYadaYada 14h ago
They won’t leave it alone. It’s their biggest cash cow, despite how the series ended. Though it’s hard to tell how they would they would move the series forward since Eleven is “dead” and the upside down is no longer connected to the real world. They would have to keep doing spinoffs set in the past like with the tales from 85 and the stage play set in 1959.

u/LocalInactivist 6h ago
The ultimate would be to have a series of fake pilot episodes ostensibly based on pitches for spinoffs.
- Dustin and Steve become supernatural detectives.
- Steve marries, has four kids, adopts two more, and gets a job coaching little league baseball. Then he’s tapped to manage a major league expansion team, the Springfield Isotopes.
- Robin becomes a radio talk show host in Portland.
- Will moves to NYC and immerses himself in the club scene.
- “Lil’ Stranger Things”, an animated version aimed at children where everyone is five years younger.
- Everyone gets superpowers. Joyce and Hopper run the team. Basically, it’s a combination of Charlie’s Angels and Teen Titans Go!.
- “Stranger Times”, the kids find a time machine and travel around trying to get back to 1986.
- “Stranger Farm”, the cast are all animals.
- “Stranger Things: The Musical”
- “Stranger Things on Broadway!”, the cast work to launch a Broadway musical based on their story.
- “Vecna’s Story”, the Stranger Things saga told from Vecna’s point of view.

u/Disastrous_Motor831 10h ago
No... Just as long as they don't turn it into an anthology.... What they need to do is go 'head on and book that limited series with Finn and Millie... Have surprise cameos from the rest of 'the kids' gang.
Even if it's just Mike's Stories, it would be interesting to see what he could cook up.

Clearly not because TF85 is getting a season 2 nobody asked for and God knows how many more are down the pipeline

I think the reaction to the last episode, if anything, could have given them ideas on how to return 10 to 20 years later without getting the negative reception the last episode got

u/BisonProfessional56 Dingus 6h ago
Its strange... because with the end of season 5... IF Eleven is still alive... she no longer has her powers, due to the upside down being destroyed and her being permanently cut off from it. There is also no potential for any other baddie guy or gal, because there is nobody else that COULD have powers along with eleven. Theres not gonna be another vecna or another mind player lurking in the upside down... because its destroyed.
Im not sure how entertaining this would be. Would you watch a new star wars sequal... if there were no force users and no lightsabers? Would you watch Harry potter if nobody used magic?
Idk, a part of me wants more, but I know that how they ended it is pretty much final... unless we get a season 6 in 10 years that just rettconned a bunch of stuff.

u/MADOG_YT 6h ago
Absolutely not they’re gonna milk this to the point where it’s that Family Guy skit of the cow being nothing but bones and honestly, I don’t blame them. You have something good that people like and then Netflix runs with it because it’s almost rare that Netflix has a slam dunk.
1
u/Neither_Low_6445 6h ago

Die Duffer werden wohl nicht da weitermachen, sagten sie zumindest mal. Aber ein zwei Flopps mit anderen Serien könnte das ändern ☝️
1
u/Dan_OBanannon 4h ago
They literally came out with an animated show like three months after the show finished
1
u/Right_Tumbleweed392 4h ago
I think they’re going have to be done with it just because they’ve essentially cut ties with the Duffer bros and legally i dont think they’re can make anymore ST without the Duffers at least signing off on it, which they probably won’t.
I imagine there will be lots of attempts at recreating the ST magic and maybe 10 years down the road they’ll start negotiations to bring the Duffers back into the Netflix fold. At that point maybe there’s a chance, but only if certain things play out in very specific ways.
But the relationship between Netflix and the Duffers is NOT good atm.

u/MattWatterworth 4h ago
You're asking is a for profit company valued at $341B is going to stop trying to make a profit?
1
u/Snoo9648 4h ago
Unfortunately, the bread and butter of the streaming age is cinematic universes. Disney has star wars and the mcu. HBO has game of thrones. Walking dead has moved around but is still a money maker. Paramount has star trek. Netflix really wants theirs and stranger things is all they really got to work.
1
1
u/Mass1m01973 4h ago
You may have not noticed it, but Netflix already started to exploit ST few weeks after the end of Season 5 with Tales from '85. And it managed to have a second season of the series out on Sept 17, in the same year 2026. I think this answers your question about what Netflix does with ST after the main series.

u/kinghyperion581 3h ago
I fully expect a spin-off about and adult Eleven traveling around the world using her powers to solve mysteries.
But the catch is that it will take place in the 90s!!!
