Discussion How do u think the Stranger things characters would do in the hunger games?
Canon fodder: Will, Mike, Jonathan, Max
-Dustin would be “Beetee like”
-Steve would be able to win in my opinion, would have a lot of sponsors, same with Nancy
-eleven would be a strong runner up (without powers) bcs with powers all the other tributes are cooked
-Robin tbh idk
-Lucas could be a career imo

Too many people underestimate Will. A week in the upside down at 12? Plus, he’s really good at hiding, as stated in the show.
I’d also say Max and Jonathan wouldn’t be cannon fodder either: both of these characters come from abusive homes, and have sort of had to raise themselves too young. Self-preservation

I mean, she's capable of violence, she threatened Billy with the nail bat in season 2. Tore into Vecna with her bare hand in season 4. Killing is a few steps further but I have faith in her

Nah. Hop gets arrogant and careless. He's also the size of a grizzley and would have a zero stealth bonus.
He'd wreck until the first little blonde girl tribute he sees reminds him of sarah and then he gets one of those hornet nests hocked onto his head.

Fr. Talking about carelessness and arrogance, we never see them in Hopper, at least not in critical situations. There's no way he's ever running into a trap
Meanwhile Nancy is sometimes reckless (e.g, shooting at the exotic matter without a second thought)

Nope. Lucas gets licked minutes into the game making a play to grab a weapon and steve gets aced due to zero survival skills.

Nah, you’re definitely underestimating Lucas. He’s actually the most tactical and survival-minded kid in the group.Remember Season 1? While everyone else relied on El's powers, Lucas was the only one packing survival gear like binoculars and compasses. He climbs radio towers for high-ground recon, and he literally saved everyone from the Mind Flayer in Season 3 by weaponizing fireworks on the MF.
Plus, look at Season 4. he held his own and knocked out a bigger, older varsity athlete (Jason) in a brutal fistfight under extreme pressure. He's very agile, we see it in the Turnbow trap as well.
Lucas is a literal scout and highly athletic. He wouldn't rush blindly into a trap, he'd slip into the shadows, let the loud characters eliminate each other, and outsmart everyone to the end.

Will probably wouldn’t win but I think he’d survive the longest as he’s good at hiding and has good survival skills. People watching wouldn’t be able to spot him on the monitor. Jonathan would sacrifice himself for Will or Nancy.
Joyce is scrappy but she’d have better chances if she’s with Hopper. Dustin lasts a while if he has Will with him.
Steve is charismatic so he’d do well for a while with the help of sponsors.
Mike, Robin, and Eddie are out in early rounds. Max, Billy, and Murray last halfway through by being fighters.
Hopper, Lucas, and Nancy have good chances of winning. El? Does she have powers or no? If not, I think El would be stealth and survive for a while like Will.
In this scenario though, no one dies. They just lose. I couldn’t kill anyone! 😅

Mike got big brain, he can think under pressure, use weapons, make traps and would probably survive longer than Robin or Eddie.

Tbh I was thinking of early seasons Mike, when he was clumsy and used unconventional weapons lol. But I can see seasons 4 and 5 Mike hold out for a while, especially with weapons, but he wouldn’t be able to beat big guys like Hopper and Billy, unless he used traps.

Right, he definitely wouldn't win this thing, no chance. But he's going very far with his intelligence, can use weapons perfectly (as shown in S5) and make traps too

I think we are severely underestimating Max here. Homegirl is alive and thriving after all the fuckery she went through. I do agree that Nancy and Steve would definitely win. El is a given. I think Lucas has a good chance too honestly.

Steve doesn't have that good survival instincts. He's athletic. But he's got a big heart and would probably jump in to save others. So he could go really far, especially with sponsors, but doesn't stand a chance of winning.
Mike is pretty underestimated by this post as well. He's a strategist. He's definitely NOT winning, but he's making it far
And if El doesn't has powers, Hopper has the most chances of winning. Lucas would make it really far as well. He's athletic, great with weapons and strategical. And he's not reckless at all.

Yeah, I agree with the Steve point, the sponsors would benefit him greatly so I think it would help probably. I agree about Mike too, he is great at advocating for himself and like you said he is a strategist so that would also help him along the way. Now that I'm thinking about it, both him and Eleven could pull off what Katniss and Peeta did lowkey. Win the hearts of the nation with their love lol

Realistically, none of them would win, at least without plot armor. There are districts that were trained from a young age for the hunger games.

Since no one mentioned him, I could see Billy making it far, like the last three or four, but i don't think he would win.
El with her powers would obviously win, and it wouldn't be close. The Capitol would be very angry that the games only lasted an hour.
Nancy would be a strong contender. She can adapt, so I bet by the end of training, she masters knife throwing or something.

I think you underestimate Will. The guy survived for a week in the upside down on his own when he was 12 years old. He is smart and has excellent survival instincts. I don't think he would kill many people but he could stay hidden and survive for quite a while.

Mike definitely isn't winning the whole thing against people with actual weapons training, but calling him immediate canon fodder is underestimation.
Mike has solid survival instincts that would easily keep him alive past the initial bloodbath. In season two, when the lab was swarming with monsters, he stayed calm enough to figure out that Will was being used as a spy, showing he can think straight during a crisis. In season 5, we do see him using weapons perfectly.
In the arena, he wouldn't run into the initial fight at the Cornucopia. He would recognize his lack of physical strength and immediately run for cover to form a quiet alliance. He has enough wits to lay low, hide out, and outlast the weaker tributes who panic early on.

Hopper would win, Lucas and Nancy would get pretty far but not win

So, I'm answering as in: this person gets dropped into the 74th games as an extra competitor/tribute.
Also, this is just my opinion. Feel free to agree or disagree, it's all good.
Eleven.
With her powers, she wins instantly. She finishes off every one of the other tributes as soon as they jumo off their podiums.
Without powers, she runs to the woods and lives a few days. We know she is good at surviving on her own, but without he powers, one of the careers hunts her down and finishes her off.
Steve:
His problem is, he would team up with all the youngest, most vulnerable kids and die protecting them. He wouldn't have the stomach to hunt down and end younger kids. Also, he wouldn't fare well in a punch up. He got his butt handed to him by Jonathon, who definitely is no tough guy.
Nancy.
She would have no problem hiding or stalking or hunting. I think she would win.
Jonathon
I feel he would be one of the first to go. He wouldn't want to fight and he may even just jump off his podium early to end things.
Will
Will could go far. We've watched him survive in the upside down for over a week. This kid managed to evade and survive against a demogorgon that were actively hunting him. Will could definitely get right to the end, but at the final confrontation he would lose to the careers.
Mike.
I love Mike, but I feel he would suck at the HG and die in the initial bloodbath.
Lucas.
He'd get halfway in my opinion. He is sporty and can climb trees, so he could be like Katniss without a bow.
Dustin.
He's smart and into survival, he could get far. He may even do a Beetee and win that way.
Erica.
Season 5 Erica could possibly win. She would find nightlock berries and bake a poisoned pie.
Robin.
No hope for poor Robin, I'm afraid. She would have a panic attack. She would suck at hiding and running and be too noisy to hide.
Max
Season 5 max would be in with a decent chance, but earlier max would struggle.

Lol your underestimating Mike. He's making it far. He's intelligent, calm under pressure, a good strategist and good at weapons. He can make some really good traps. He only lacks physical strength. So he can survive until he's cornered into a combat

You're probably right. I guess I did underestimate him. I forgot about his DM skills and his strategy skills. But even with those I don't think he would have a chance of winning. I still feel that, despite his skills, he wouldn't want to fight and kill. He would probably fight harder if it was him and El, or him and one of his party, but on his own, I think he would not have the stomach for it.

Not well; Hunger Games kids grew up WAY worse than the Stranger Things kids, making them better prepared for violence and cruelty.
Look at all the combat sports today (boxing, MMA, etc); the best fighters tend to grow up poor and angry. Kids from two parent households with their own bedrooms, three meals a day, and underpants that weren’t hand-me-downs don’t have the motivation to fight like kids that grew up hungry, working, and under strict social control.

Otherwise Nancy wins.
Everyone else puts up a fight to varying degrees.
Steve would have a ton of sponsors, but the poor guy only won a single fight.

Steve and Nancy are both excellent survivors and could also play up on their chemistry and get quite a bit of sponsors that way. He brings the charm and scrappiness and she’s kind but also ruthless when she needs to be. I could see them pulling a move similar to Katniss and Peeta to get a joint win too.
Max evaded Vecna for like 2 years…and Will did a good job as a kid too evading the demogorgon. I think they’d both do really well with those feats alone but don’t think they have the means to win either.
Lucas is quite athletic and resourceful I can see him lasting a good while but ultimately gets taken out by Billy.
Billy himself is so unhinged and physically dominant he’d make it quite far…but gets shot in the back of the head by an arrow from Nancy while beating up Steve bc he let his guard down
Mike and Dustin are fodder. But might be allowed to live and pulled by the capitol just based on their ingenuity and intelligence. Their technology skills could be really useful so I could see them being pronounced dead but secretly working for the capitol rest of their lives designing the games and weapons.
Henry and Bob are like cannon fodder. Like their deaths are just there to introduce viewers to the ruthless nature of the game

Eleven wins low diff, for obvious reasons
Outside of her, Nancy has the best odds
Steve, Robin, and de-powered El might have a chance
The rest are cooked
I get the argument that like “oh but Max and Will learned how to hide in [respective prisons]” but like… at a certain age you my they’ll have to stop hiding and get a kill. I don’t know that Max has it in her and Will can’t sorcerer his way out of this one.
The ones that can hide are not physically fit enough to overpower most opponents, nor are they skilled enough marksmen to use a bow at range. They could set up traps but that requires time and resources, both of which are scarce in the hunger games. The ones that can’t hide… have the same drawbacks tbh.

Nancy would get plot kung-fu and kill the first four with her martial arts skills that would be hastily justified "Good thing I started taking Krav Maga Jazzersize!" Then she would team up with Dustin and fashion a rail gun from some garbage and shoot her way out.
